Matthew softened his voice to comfort her. “Bella, say whatever you want. There are no

outsiders here.”

Isabella put on an embarrassed, hesitant look.

“I don’t know if it’s because I just saw John’s photo, but my heart still doesn’t feel good.

Matt… am I going to relapse into depression?”

Charlotte watched the whole thing like she was watching a circus.

She wanted to laugh, but couldn’t. Holding it in was honestly torture.

This villa used to feel like a boring jail. Now, with Isabella added to the mix, it was way

more interesting.

People paid for tickets to watch monkeys at the zoo.

And here? This was free.

Of course Matthew felt sorry for her.

“I’ll take you back to your room. Tonight, I’ll stay until you fall asleep, then I’ll leave.”

When he said it, he didn’t even bother to hide it, even with his wife standing right there.

Luckily, the legal wife didn’t argue. She acted generous. “Matt, hurry and take Bella back.

I’ve heard that if you catch a chill during postpartum recovery, it can leave you with all

kinds of lingering health problems.”

“Be with Bella properly. If John knew she was suffering this much, he definitely wouldn’t

be able to rest easy.”

Even Isabella understood the sting in those words.

A flicker of resentment flashed in her eyes, then vanished just as fast.

Matthew, though, only caught the surface meaning and hesitated. “You…”

He’d just promised he’d stay with Charlotte. Now he was breaking his word again. No

matter what, he still felt guilty.

And with Charlotte looking so “reasonable,” Matthew hesitated even more.

In the past, this woman only ever looked at him coldly, or said things that made people

choke.

Now she’d turned… obedient.

Had she really figured it out?

So why was it that her obedience-her ‘coming to her senses’-didn’t make him happy

at all?

Right now, Matthew actually wanted Charlotte to make a scene.

Charlotte had already read his mind.

She clenched her teeth and cursed him silently, “Pathetic.”

But her face stayed sweet. “I’m fine. Her health matters. Go on, take her back.”

Matthew wrapped an arm around Isabella and left.

Charlotte smiled as she watched them go.

Once they were gone, she got out of bed, gently closed the door, and locked it.

The smile disappeared instantly.

Charlotte patted her cheeks, then rubbed the stiff muscles in her face.

So damn exhausting.

She’d guessed it a long time ago-if Matthew stayed in her room too long, Isabella

would definitely come looking for him.

Looks like Isabella already had a strong possessive need over Matthew.

That was exactly why Charlotte dared to say those things on purpose.

After all that chaos, Charlotte couldn’t fall asleep.

Tossing and turning, her mind somehow replayed the scene from today-her and Nathan talking so smoothly, so naturally.

The more she thought, the more an idea hit her.

She grabbed her phone and typed Nathan’s name into the search bar.

The results made her go completely still.

Nathan, born in Hang Kong.

At eleven, he began taking graduate-level computer science courses.

At twelve, he independently developed a software program.

At fifteen, while serving as captain of his school basketball team, he also developed a

music recommendation program, which a company purchased for seven million.

At eighteen, he entered a top-tier university with the world’s leading reputation in

computer science academia, earning the title “Programming Prodigy.”

At twenty-four, he took over the family business and, in just two years, grew Cloudstart

Tech into a global tech company.

The more Charlotte read, the more she wanted to drop to her knees and worship.

Then her gaze landed on one line.

Fiancée: Rachel.

Charlotte’s curiosity rose.

What kind of woman was this Rachel-how outstanding did she have to be to deserve a

man who stood at the peak, looking down on mediocrity?

Ruby’s call came through.

“I found the guys you want. And they’re absolutely reliable.”

Charlotte smiled in relief. “When you handle things, you never disappoint me.”

“What’s the plan?”

“Wait for my message.”

“No problem.”

Then Ruby remembered something.

“There’s a college get-together tomorrow night. You coming?”

Charlotte didn’t hesitate. “Yeah.”

“Then dress up and surprise them.”

Something stirred in Charlotte’s thoughts. “Of course.”

The next day, Charlotte woke up and opened her phone. Her groggy mind snapped

awake on the spot.

One billion and five hundred million. Not a cent missing.

The payer name was the jewelry store’s name.

Charlotte thought and thought, and still couldn’t make sense of it.

They trusted her that much?

They weren’t afraid she’d escape?

Or did they just not care about the money?

Charlotte clicked her tongue.

That was definitely a top-tier billionaire. The kind rich beyond reason.

Too bad she couldn’t see what they looked like.

Charlotte went to the dining room.

Natalie was already at the table eating breakfast.

The moment she saw Charlotte, she rolled her eyes, clearly not interested in talking.

Perfect. Quiet was exactly what Charlotte wanted.

But after only a few bites, Natalie curled her lips into a sly, smug grin.

“Guess where my brother slept last night?”

Charlotte chewed on a fragrant sandwiches and couldn’t be bothered to respond.

Natalie’s eyes widened. “I’m talking to you! Why are you ignoring me? Who do you think

you are!”

Charlotte lazily lifted her eyelids. “Who are you talking to?”

Natalie pursed her lips. “Who else would I be talking to? It’s just you and me!”

Charlotte said, “Oh. I was wondering why I heard a fly buzzing. So it was you talking.”

“You!” Natalie blew up instantly. “Charlotte! Don’t get too arrogant!”

Charlotte took her time, drank a sip of milk, then wiped her mouth.

“Looks like you’re the more arrogant one.”
