None of the tenants had any criminal records.
But then again most of them were rich bastards like us. Money talks. You pay enough and your past could disappear forever.
Elias had installed the extra security but it didn’t do much to set any of us at ease. We were making plans to rearrange things so we could make a safe room for Daisy.
Elias was always at home, but on the rare case when all three of us had to go out, we wanted her to have a place where she felt safe.
We were still deciding on what room to change into a safe room.
My eyes darted over to the window.
Dark rain clouds were starting to roll in. In a few hours, it was going to start raining. I needed to stop by the office before that happened. When it rains, there’s always bad traffic.
I closed the files on my computer and stood.
Voices drifted towards me as I walked down the hall. Elias was busy baking something and Daisy sat at the counter, dipping her fingers into the bowls and tasting whatever was in it.
Daisy had decided to take suppressants for her heat. I was unsure what she told Erika, not that it mattered. It wasn’t any of her business. For a few minutes after she told us that she took the suppressant, I was disappointed but when my mind cleared, I realized that she had made the right choice.
We weren’t ready to take that step yet.
And Daisy wasn’t ready for us to go into our rut. One of us might actually end up bonding her.
Elias glanced up, eyebrow raised in question.
“I like the chocolate one better,” Daisy said swiping her finger through the dough in the bowl again.
Moving in behind her, I slipped my arms around her waist and pressed my face to the crook of her neck. Sucking in a breath, I winced when the chemical smell of the suppressants filled my nostrils instead of her sweet scent.
Letting out a low growl, I jerked away from her. “Guess I don’t have to ask if you remembered to take your pill.”
“I don’t forget it.” She turned to look at me. “I set an alarm on my phone so I remember to take it at the same time every day.”
“Good girl.” Kissing her forehead, I walked around the counter to grab a pancake from one of the plates. “I have to go to the office.”
“Oh.”
The disappointment in her voice made my eyes snap over to her. I looked at Elias in question but he was busy making pancakes. Had I made plans with her? Frowning, I took a step towards her.

“I have a conference call with a potential client,” I told her. “Did we have plans?”
Daisy shook her head. “No.”
I studied her closer. “Liar. Now tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s just, Elias said that Stevens can pick me up a few things but if he’s driving you then he can’t get me those things.”
“He still can.” I smiled at her. “He’ll drop me off at the office and then go pick up the things you want him to.”
“Won’t he get in any trouble for…going to pick things up for me?” she asked softly.
Walking back over to her, I turned the chair around so she faced me and stepped in between her legs. I placed my hands on her thighs and leaned down to kiss her.
Moaning, she slipped her hands around my waist and pulled me closer. Her lips parted under the pressure under mine and her tongue slipped into my mouth.
Blood rushed to my cock when her tongue brushed mine.
Letting out a groan, I broke the kiss and pressed my forehead to hers. It took a few seconds for my mind to start working again. We were talking about Stevens.
“Steven was hired when Elias was still recovering. His main priority was to run errands for Elias.” I hesitated.” He asked to do more because he needed the money, so we hired him as our driver.”
“Oh.”
Smiling, I pressed a kiss to the corner of her lips and took a step back. “I’ll see you later, baby girl.”
“Will you be back in time for dinner?”
“I’m not sure, but I’ll try my best.”
“That’s his code word for he would be working late,” Elias told her. “It’ll probably just the two of us flower.”
“Don’t count on it,” I muttered as I passed him. “See you later.”
“Be careful,” Daisy called.
The smile stayed on my face all the way down to the car. I ignored the odd look Stevens gave me when he opened the door and climbed into the car.
We’d only been on the road for a few minutes when my phone started ringing. My heartbeat increased, my first thought instantly going to Daisy.
“What happened?” I answered the phone.
“I taught you better manners than that Alexander Wyatt.”
I winced and pulled the phone away from my ear to look at the caller ID.
“Mother,” I muttered. “I’m sorry, I thought it was someone else.”

She sighed. “I’m calling to tell you that we expect you to be at home by four on Wednesday. No excuses.”
“Right.” I swallowed. “About that. You’re throwing me a surprise party again, aren’t you?”
“Well, it’s not a surprise if you already know about it. Who told you?”
“Nobody,” I instantly denied. “Listen, I know that I’m not going to talk you out of having a party, but I was hoping that it could be small. Just close family.”
“Does this have anything to do with that Omega?”
“Erika told you about her?”
“She didn’t tell me anything,” Mom instantly denied. “I saw about it on the news.”
“Of course you did.” Running a hand through my hair, I glanced at the window. “I have to go, but I’ll call you back tonight and we can talk about this party.”
“You better call me back, or else.” With the threat hanging in the air, she ended the call.
When it came to parties, our parents knew exactly how to plan one. They loved to invite the whole neighbourhood. Which was why it was a bad idea. Elias couldn’t stay with Daisy because they would expect all of us to be there, and I didn’t want to leave her alone at the penthouse. Not until we had more information on the bastard stalking her.
As long as he was out there, I wasn’t going to allow Daisy out of my sight.
And we couldn’t forget John.
That bastard hadn’t even made any payment yet. He was constantly making excuses but he had been weirdly silent after the videos of me and Daisy were aired.
They were still running the story. We still had those bloodhounds going after us, which was another reason why it was a bad idea for Daisy to leave the penthouse.
My phone rang again, but this time I made sure to check the caller ID before I picked it up.
“I’ve been informed that John has made a request to…borrow a million dollars. He bribed Greene into giving him the money without informing you.”
I pursed my lips. “Let them keep him there.”
“Give him the money?” Valiant asked.
“Yes, if he by chance gets lucky today, take the winnings. Don’t let him leave. I have a conference call, and then I’ll pay the bastard a visit.”
