“There’s someone at the door, Val.”
There was a loud thud, followed by curses. “Do you have the iPad? Are you checking the camera?”
I nodded, clutching the tablet tighter as I stared down at the man standing outside the door.
“It’s a m–man,” I whispered as if he could hear me. “He’s wearing a cap and a black hoodie. He rang the bell but hasn’t looked at the camera.”
“Okay, where are you?” he asked.
“I–In Alex’s office.” I licked my lips. “Elias placed the tablet on charge in the office before he left.”
“Where is he?”
The man moved, snapping my attention towards the screen again. He pulled something out of his pocket and slid it under the door. For a few seconds, he remained in the same position, ear almost pressed to the door.
“Daisy?”
“He pushed something under the door.”
“Did you see what it is?” There was a strange note to his voice.
“L–looks like an envelope.”
“Where’s Elias, petal?” he repeated his question.
“H–he went out to…to…I can’t remember.”
Val cursed under his breath. “Is he still there?”
“He’s trying to open the door.”
“It’s locked?”
“Yes.”
Another curse. “I want you to go to your nest and make sure the bookshelf is in place. Elias installed some deadbolts. Make sure they’re in place.”
“O–okay.”
Clutching the tablet to my chest with one hand and the phone to my ear with the other, I hurried out of Alex’s office and down the hall. My steps faltered when I neared the entrance. I stopped and stared at the door.
Was his ear still pressed to the door? Could he hear me?
The door handle turned, snapping me back into action. I ran for the nest and did as Val ordered. My hands were shaky and I didn’t realize how badly until I struggled to slip the chains into place to lock the door.
“Are you in the nest, petal? Did you lock the door?”

“Y–yes,” I whispered.
“Good girl.” Someone hooted in the background. “Hold on a moment I’m going to call Alex and Elias.”
Hurrying over to the corner behind the door, I sunk down to the floor and placed the tablet on the floor.
The man was still there, crouched and staring at the door handle as he twisted it.
“Are you finished in court?” Alex’s voice drifted over the phone, startling me.
“Val?” Elias questioned.
“There’s someone at the door,” Val said before they could utter another word. “Daisy’s locked in her nest. The bastard slipped something under the door and now he’s trying to get inside.”
Alex cursed. “I’m three hours away.”
“I’m close,” Elias muttered. “How are you doing flower?”
I closed my eyes and sucked in steady breaths like Elias had taught me. Nausea made my stomach roll. My head pounded and I was shaking badly. A panic attack was close to the surface, I could feel it.
“Daisy–girl, you’re going to be okay,” Alex said softly.
“I’m almost there, flower,” Elias said softly, sounding out of breath. “I’m entering the building now.”
“What’s the man doing, baby girl?” Alex asked.
My eyes snapped open. I reached for the tablet and unlocked the screen. A gasp fell from my lips.
“Daisy!”
“H–he knows I’m here,” I whispered. “He’s holding up a n–note to the camera.”
“What does it say?” Val asked.
“S–see you s–soon…l–little…omega.” I shuddered.
“Is he leaving?”
I nodded and then realized that they couldn’t see me. “Y–yes.”
“Where are you?” Elias asked.
“I told her to lock herself in the nest.
“Good. I’m entering the elevator now.”
“He had to have used the fire escape,” Alex muttered. “The only way to get up to the penthouse with the elevator is to use the code and only we know it.”
“And Stevens,” Elias breathed.
“He’s worked for us for almost eight years, I think we all know that we can trust him by now.”

“The man knows where the camera is,” I whispered. “I didn’t even know where it was when you installed it. If you hadn’t showed me I would never have known.”
My mind started spinning as different thoughts raced through it. They had been nothing but kind to me. Helping me. But how could someone else possibly know where the camera was that Elias installed. He was the only one
who knew.
Don’t be fucking stupid Daisy! What is he going to gain by telling you stalker these things?
He isn’t here.
He said he needed to do something important.
He could have easily changed his clothes.
Tears rolled down my cheeks. No matter how many times I wiped it away, it just kept falling.
I really didn’t want to believe that they were in on it, but I barely knew them. What if it was part of their plan to get me to agree to be their omega?
It wasn’t true.
They wouldn’t do that.
“Daisy.” It was Elias. “Open the door for me, flower.”
I swallowed. “C–can’t.”
“Why not baby girl?” Alex asked.
“Are you on the bed?” Elias asked.
“No.”
“Look around,” Elias ordered softly. “Everything looks familiar, doesn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“Just the way you left it, right?”
“Yes.”
“Now close your eyes and take a deep breath,” he ordered softly. “What do you smell, Daisy? Something familiar?”
I closed my eyes and sucked in a breath. The nest still smelled like us, like sex. Our scents were mixed like our own personal perfume.
I loved it.
“Is the smell familiar Daisy?” Elias questioned against my ear.
“Y–yes.”
“Suck in another deep breath and slowly blow it out.”

“Good girl,” Val praised when I followed Elias’s order.
The tension slowly drained from my body, but the fear still remained.
“Open the door for me, flower.”
I got up on shaky legs and moved over to the door. With trembling fingers, I unlocked the deadbolt. The door clicked when it was opened from the other side. Stumbling back, I held my breath as I waited for it to open.
The moment Elias stepped into view, I threw myself at him. He caught me with one arm, using his other to steady himself against the door.
“I got you flower,” he whispered against my ear. “It’s okay.”
I hugged him tighter.
His shirt clung to him, his skin damp to the touch. He smelled like smoke and sweat and another scent I didn’t
like.
“Look at me.”
I raised my head to look at him. With the hand holding the phone, he moved the strands of hair from my face as he studied me. Whatever he saw made him press the phone back to his ear.
“I got her,” he told them. “No, we can open it when you get home. I’ll check it. Fine.”
He hung up and pushed the phone back in his pocket.
Reaching up, he cupped my cheek again.
“He’s gone,
“Elias said softly. “You’re okay.”
“H–he knew where the camera was.‘” “}
Elias nodded as he started walking over to the bed.
“I don’t know how, but I’m going to figure it out, okay?”
He took a seat on the edge of the bed and placed me on his lap. Using both hands to cup my cheeks, he pulled me closer and pressed his forehead against mine.
“I won’t leave you again. I promise,” he whispered.
I squeezed my eyes closed. “Where did you go?”
“I went to get you something.” His eyes darkened as his brows dipped into a frown. “Shouldn’t have left.”
Something for me?
“Why?”
Instead of answering me, he pressed his lips to mine. I kissed him back until that smell I didn’t like penetrated my nostrils. Letting out a low growl, I pulled away and wrinkled my nose at him.
“You need to shower,” I told him. “I don’t like that smell.”

His eyes darted over my face, a small smile making his lips twitch “Okay,” he said softly. “Are you going to take a shower with me?”
I bit my lip. It was tempting, but I knew that agreeing would lead to more than just a shower, and I was still sore from the experiments we tried last night.
“I’ll wait for VOR”
Elias pressed a kiss to the corner of my mouth and lowered me to the bed.
“I’ll be right back.”
I forced my body to stay locked in place when he walked out of the room. It didn’t take him long to return. When he did, he had a small brown paper bag in one hand and another bigger white paper bag.
Taking a seat in front of me, he opened the brown paper bag and pulled out a blue and white box.
“We haven’t talked about it again but I know you’ve been worried about it. It’s been a week which is enough time for you to do a pregnancy test to find out if the suppressants are messing with your birth control.”
I stared down at the box, “W–what if it’s positive?”
“We’ll deal with it once we know for sure. I don’t want us to panic and jump to conclusions before we know for sure.” Elias pushed the box back into the bag and placed it down. “The woman who helped me said it is best to do the test first thing in the morning.”
“O–okay.”
“This is between us, flower. Val and Alex don’t know so let’s keep this between the two of us.”
I nodded.
“Good. I’m going to put it under the mattress.”
He stood and slipped the bag under the mattress at the end of the bed. Straightening, he nodded towards the other bag.
“That’s yours flower.” Winking, he spun around and headed towards the shower.
I stared at the bag, waiting. Finally, the water switched on, and I reached for the bag. Pulling it onto my lap, I carefully opened it and peeked inside.
Reaching inside, I smiled as I pulled the contents out of the bag, and placed it carefully on the bed. When I was done, I stared down at it, smiling from cheek to cheek.
