Why the hell did he leave her alone? What if that man got into the apartment?
We had no idea who the fuck was after her, so we didn’t know what the hell that man had planned for Daisy. What if he was there to kidnap her, to hold her for ransom like they had done when she was just a little girl?
I shook my head as soon as the question flashed through my mind. John owed a lot of people money so it wouldn’t be a surprise for any of them to target his family. But what I couldn’t understand was why they would target Daisy specifically.
She’s an omega.
But so was Isabella.
She would be a better fit because she was constantly in the public eye. Most photos of John in the media were either with his daughter or Daisy’s mother.
Why weren’t they being targeted?
It also made me wonder whether it was actually related to John. He had been the subject of our focus since he stole my money. Maybe we were looking at the wrong people.
Pressing the speed dial button on the steering wheel, I called Val. It rang three times before he picked up the phone.
“Okay?” he asked as soon as he answered.
“Yeah,” I muttered. “There?”
“No more visitors. I had a talk with little Mickey.”
“And?”
“He said he never let anyone up to the penthouse. Didn’t see anyone suspicious entering the building.” He paused. “We need to change the code. Elias already moved the camera and installed a few more security measures for Daisy.”
“How is she doing?” I asked him.
“Worried about you,” he muttered. “When will you be home?”
“Not sure. I’m stuck in a traffic jam.” I sighed loudly. “The meeting took longer than expected. It was too important to cancel or cut short.”
“I know.”
I heard Elias in the background and a second later Daisy answered.
My heart squeezed, longing filling me. I wanted to get back to her as soon as possible.
“Is your guy still tailing John?” I asked him.
“Yes. He’s not doing anything unusual.” Val cleared his throat. “He made a payment this morning. Said it was

some of the money he owes you from our previous arrangement.”
“I’m sure he stole it from someone else,” I muttered. “He’s going bankrupt.”
“Listen, I looked into that pack you mentioned,” he said softly. “What you mentioned is just speculation. None of it has been proven to be true.”
“Aren’t there any history police reports filed?” I asked him. “It’s highly unlikely that a pack known for abuse and a missing omega was let off with just a warning. They have a history of violence, Val.”
“It’s why I dug deeper. None of the omegas who have been claimed to have been abused filed any reports. I also found out that the missing omega’s parents were the ones to file the missing report.” He sucked in a breath and blew it out. “The police investigated the pack but found no evidence to lock them up or investigate them any further. They’ve been cleared from the suspect list.”
I frowned. “It doesn’t make any sense.”
“I know. Elias agreed to call in a few favours.”
“Do you think it might be them stalking Daisy? John promised her to them.”
“I thought about it, but we’re just going on speculations. John owes them money, but I don’t think that they will go after Daisy to get him to pay.”
“We can’t rule them out just yet. Not after that fucking stunt John pulled at the casino.” I rubbed a hand over the bandage beneath my shirt. “John is getting desperate and a desperate man is a dangerous one.”
“Are you talking to Alex?” Daisy questioned close by. “Is he on his way?”
“Give the phone to her,” I ordered Val.
“Alex?”
“Hey baby girl, how are you doing?”
“I’ll be better when you’re home,” Daisy answered softly. “You’re on your way back, right?”
“Yes.” My eyes locked on the car in front of me when it started moving. “I’m stuck in a traffic jam. Might be another hour or two. Do you want me to get you something?”
Daisy was silent for a few minutes. “A chocolate, please,” she finally answered.
“Just a chocolate?” I asked her. “No ice cream?”
“I already have ice cream,” she muttered. “Elias got me some.”
“Okay. I’ll get you some chocolate. Any specific flavours you want?”
“Uhm…I like those with the biscuits in.”
“Then that’s what you’ll get, baby girl.”
I shifted in the seat when the traffic started moving faster.

“I got to go, the traffic is starting to move. I’ll see you soon baby girl, but don’t wait up for me okay?”
“Why not?”
I smiled. “I’ll probably be home close to midnight. I don’t want you to wait up and be tired tomorrow.‘
“I won’t be,” Daisy argued. “I’ll wait for you so I know that you get home safely.”
“I’ll wake you when I get home,” I promised her.
Daisy hesitated a moment more before she agreed.
“See you soon baby girl,” I told her before I hung up.
Traffic was starting to move faster but just as my mood started to lift, it slowed down again. Letting out a loud hiss of frustration, I reached for my phone.
I read through the list of names once again. None of them sounded familiar.
Our focus was on John at the moment and the pack we found out he sold Daisy to, but what if it was neither of them? What if we needed to look somewhere else?
The three of us had our fair share of enemies.
Elias’s enemies consisted mostly of men he had locked up. My enemies consisted of jealous rivals and some people from my father’s past. Val had a bit of both.
It would be hard to number it down to one or two suspects.
It could also be someone from Daisy’s past, from her kidnapping when she was seven.
The man called her little omega so he must know how much she hated being called that.
It’s a common term used with omegas.
Maybe we’d know more about the bastard once we opened the envelope he delivered.
My phone pinged just as the cars started moving again. I reached for it and opened the text but didn’t read it because my turn was coming up ahead.
Just as I reached the front, the lights turned red again.
My eyes dropped to my phone.
How much is your little omega worth to you?
I have information you need.
Interested?
Meet me at BlueWaves Cafe tomorrow morning at 5 a.m
BlueWaves Cafe was a beachfront cafe half an hour away from the penthouse. It used to be our favourite hangout before Elias got injured. Only a few people knew that. It was the one place we could go to without anyone recognizing us. Or if they did, they never said anything.

ALONE.
Who the fuck is this guy?
It screamed trouble. Meeting a complete fucking stranger threatening our omega. I was just about to forward the message to Val when the light turned from red to green.
The car behind me honked. I threw him the finger before I moved forward.
There were no oncoming cars. The road was clear, but just as I made my turn, a truck came out of nowhere.
The impact made my body jerk to the side, and my head slam into the window. I was mentally preparing myself for the airbags to explode but it didn’t happen.
Reaching up, I pressed shaky fingers to the blood rolling down the side of my face.
Bright lights blinded me for a few seconds and then the truck slammed into the side of the car again.
Someone screamed, it was the last thing I remembered before darkness swallowed me.
