Ditched the Cheater, Pregnant by Mr. Righ novel Chapter 119

“Wow,” the man slurred as he stumbled closer, swaying slightly on his feet. “Playing hard to get now? A second ago you were calling me handsome.”

Quinn felt her stomach twist.

The smell hit her before anything else. Cheap liquor, sweat, and something sour clinging to his clothes. It made her throat tighten.

She tried to step around him and leave.

The man immediately blocked her again.

He was huge, thick around the waist and shoulders, looming in front of her like a wall that refused to move.

Quinn shifted to the other side. He grabbed her arm.

“Let go of me!”

Her voice came out sharper than she expected.

Disgust and fear churned inside her.

Before they came tonight, Lucy had promised the place was safe. A popular downtown bar, nothing shady, no troublemakers. Just music, drinks, and people hanging out.

So Quinn had agreed to come.

Now she was starting to regret it.

She tried to pull her arm free, but the man leaned even closer. His breath smelled so strong with alcohol that Quinn almost gagged.

Her heart jumped. She opened her mouth to shout for help. A sudden scream cut through the noise.

The drunk man jerked backward, clutching his head.

Before he could recover, a sharp kick slammed into his stomach. He stumbled several steps back and collapsed onto the floor with a heavy thud.

A tall woman stood there, casually brushing her hands together like she had just finished swatting a fly.

Then she planted both hands on her hips.

“Seriously?she said loudly. “Do you not understand English? She told you she doesn’t know you. Stop acting like a drunk idiot and leave her alone.”

Quinn had seen everything clearly.

The woman had grabbed the man by the hair, yanked his head down, and then kicked him without hesitation.

She wore a sleek black slip dress that hugged her slender frame. Her features were bold and striking, the kind of face that made people look twice.

The woman turned to Quinn with an easy smile. “You okay?”

Quinn forced herself to steady her breathing. “I’m fine. Thank you.”

“You here alone?” The woman tilted her head slightly, studying her. “You should keep your guard up in places like this. Too many guys who can’t handle their liquor.”

She gestured casually toward the exit.

“Want me to walk you out?”

Quinn shook her head quickly. “No, I came with a friend. But really, thank you for stepping in.”

The woman waved it off. “Don’t mention it.”

Then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the drunk guy trying to sit up again. Without even looking at him, she lifted her foot and kicked him right back down.

The man groaned loudly. “Relax,” she said with a grin. “I train at a boxing gym. Guys like him don’t scare me.”

Quinn could not help smiling.

She felt both relieved and impressed. “You’re amazing,” Quinn said sincerely. “Would it be okay if we exchanged contact info?”

The woman chuckled.

“I usually ignore strangers,” she said. “But when a gorgeous girl asks, I guess I can make an exception.”

She pulled out her phone. The two scanned each other’s contact codes. Then the woman extended her hand.

“Jess. Nice to meet you.”

Quinn shook it. “Quinn. Nice to meet you too.”

Behind them, the drunk man was still groaning on the floor.

Jess gestured toward the hallway. “Let’s get out of here before he wakes up again.”

They shared a laugh and walked toward the main floor. Just as they turned the corner, Lucy hurried toward them. “Quinn! What took you so long?”

Then a deep voice sounded behind them. “Lucy.”

The voice was calm.

enough to stop all three of them instantly. Lucy froze.

d Quinn’s hand tightly and whispered under her breath. “Quinn, please save me.”

ed around first.

it was the voice that caught her attention. Smooth, deep, ridiculously attractive.

She wanted to see the face that came with it.

The moment she did, she let out a low whistle. Quinn and Lucy both turned toward her.

Jess grinned. “Sorry,” she said. “Couldn’t help it. That guy is insanely good–looking. So which one of you is dating him?”

Lucy muttered weakly, “That’s my cousin.”

‘Lucy.”

Julian’s voice came again. Lucy immediately turned around.

Her shoulders slumped like a kid caught sneaking out.

“Hey, um… what are you doing here tonight? It’s pretty late. Shouldn’t you be home already?”

“And you shouldn’t be?” Julian asked calmly. “Didn’t I drop you off earlier and tell you to get some rest?”

Lucy opened her mouth. Nothing came out.

She squeezed Quinn’s hand helplessly. Unfortunately, Quinn did not dare say anything either.
