Chapter 137 New
Chapter 137 New Year’s Quiet
Still worried about Quinn, Julian walked back into the bedroom.
She was sleeping deeply now, her head tilted slightly to one side, both arms resting neatly beside her noty All
She looked almost like a doll placed carefully on the bed.
Julian let out a quiet sigh and sat down at the edge of the mattress.
Every time he saw her, his eyes were drawn to her without him even realizing it. Yet Quinn was sensitive, rapidly uncomfortable under someone’s gaze, and he never wanted her to feel pressured. Because of that, he usually forced himself not to look too long
Tonight was different.
She was asleep.
For once, he could look at her as much as he wanted, and she would never know.
Julian switched off the overhead lights and left only the warm glow of a wall lamp near the bed.
A little while later, bursts of fireworks sounded outside.
In recent years, many cities had strict rules about fireworks.
Lakeshore City was no exception.
Every New Year’s Eve, the city held a fireworks show by the harbor. When midnight arrived, the explosions over the water lit up the entire skyline.
Julian glanced at his watch.
Midnight. A new year had begun.
He gently took Quinn’s hand and pressed a soft kiss to the back of it.
“Quinn,” he murmured quietly, “I hope this year brings you nothing but good things. Peace, happiness, everything you deserve.”
And maybe someday… Maybe you’ll look at me too.
He never said the last thought out loud.
Quinn wasn’t divorced yet. Someone like her would never cross that line while she was still married.
Her character was as pure as her face, beautiful and untouchable.
Julian trusted that completely. Outside, the city was alive with celebration.
Music, cheering, laughter. Crowds gathered along the waterfront to watch the fireworks explode over the dark ocean
People sang and counted down the seconds together.

Many stayed up all night celebrating Julian didn’t sleep either
He sat quietly beside the bed the entire night, watching Quinn. At one point he even took a few photos of her sleeping and saved them on his phone.
After all, this was New Year’s Eve. A moment that marked the end of one year and the beginning of another.
And tonight, he and Quinn had spent it together.
In the same room. Even if she had slept through the entire night, it was enough to make Julian feel strangely content.
When Quinn finally woke up, her eyes opened slowly. Her gaze was unfocused and confused.
Where am I?
What is this place?
What time is it?
And last night… what exactly happened?
The memory of that night on the yacht surfaced in her mind.
Back then she had been drinking, and later Chase had tricked her into drinking something else. Even though she had lost control at the time, fragments of memory still remained afterward.
Her body simply worked that way. Even when she drank too much, she almost never completely blacked out.
The memories from last night began returning piece by piece. She remembered answering Victor and Elaine’s call.
She remembered meeting Lucy and Jess for drinks. Then she had gone to the restroom and overheard Clara talking with someone.
After that she had deliberately kept drinking, hoping she could get drunk enough to forget everything.
And eventually she did get drunk. What happened after she fell asleep, she didn’t know.
But waking up and remembering how she had wrapped herself around Julian, touching him everywhere and saying those humiliating things…
Every detail was painfully clear.
Oh my God.
Oh my
God.
Quinn wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole. The last time she had acted strangely, it had been because someone had slipped something into her drink. But last night she had only been drinking alcohol, so why had she behaved so wildly, grabbing Julian’s abs like that? And the things she had said… the memory alone made her want to disappear.
Is there a hole somewhere I can crawl into? How am I supposed to face anyone after this?
The embarrassment alone was unbearable. Quinn suddenly shot upright and scrambled out of bed.
Thankfully all her clothes were still on.

Her coat, purse, and phone were sitting nearby. She didn’t stop to think. She quickly grabbed everything and rushed toward the
door.
The moment she stepped out of the bedroom, the front door of the suite opened at the same time.
Julian walked in while finishing a phone call.
Quinn froze instantly, and for one desperate second she wished she could simply disappear, as if she could fade out of existence or somehow melt straight into the floor.
Because she had absolutely no idea how to face him.
“You’re awake?” Julian said after ending the call.
He started walking toward her.
Quinn’s heart began pounding wildly. Her face burned, and every muscle in her body felt stiff with embarrassment.
Her fingers tightened around her purse strap.
Then suddenly an idea flashed through her mind. She lowered her head and spoke quickly.
“Is this your room? I’m so sorry, I don’t know how I ended up sleeping here. Whenever I drink, I tend to pass out and forget everything afterward. If I caused any trouble for you, I really apologize.”
After finishing her speech, she bowed quickly and bolted for the door.
Julian watched Quinn rush out of the suite, moving so quickly it looked as if she were running for her life.
Just now she had called him Mr. Sterling again. And she claimed she remembered nothing about last night.
Julian smiled faintly.
He didn’t believe that for a second.
If she truly remembered nothing, she wouldn’t look so mortified standing in front of him.
Clearly she remembered something. Probably quite a lot. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
Then he remembered the call he had just ended and dialed the number again.
After listening for a moment, he said calmly, “Mom, please don’t believe those ridiculous rumors. I promise that before the end of this year, I’ll bring my girlfriend home to meet you. Would that be alright?”
Meanwhile, Quinn rushed out of the private club.
The cold winter air hit her face, and she finally began to calm down.
But the moment she remembered what had happened last night, her cheeks started burning again.
