Chapter 141 Caught Off Guard
The last thing Quinn wanted right now was to face Julian.
And yet Lucy had done exactly that, leaving her behind with him.
Julian looked at her. “What’s wrong with you?”
Finished
Quinn didn’t dare meet his eyes. She kept her head down and fiddled with the strap of her backpack.
“Nothing,” she said quickly. “I’m fine. I’m not sick or anything.”
“Quinn.”
He suddenly said her name. His voice carried a firm, cold edge that made her instinctively look up.
Their eyes met. Julian watched her steadily, the authority in his gaze making it impossible to retreat.
“What are you avoiding?” he asked. “Did you do something you feel guilty about?”
Quinn shook her head immediately. “No!”
There was no way she was admitting anything. Then a realization hit her.
Right. She had already said she blacked out after drinking and remembered nothing.
If that was the story, why
she actin
so nervous every time she saw Julian?
This is basically confessing without anyone asking.
She needed to calm down.
Act normal.
Just behave the way she always had around him. Julian’s eyes were sharp. If she kept acting suspicious, he would definitely notice.
So she hurried to explain.
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” she said. “I just drank a little too much last night. I’m still feeling kind of off today.”
Julian studied her for a moment.
“Get in the car,” he said. “I’ll take you to Gunnar.”
“No, no,” Quinn said quickly, waving her hands. “I just need to rest a bit. I’ll be fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”

Julian looked at her again.
Finished
“Then why are you avoiding me?” he asked. “Do you really not remember anything from last night?”
“I don’t remember!” Quinn said immediately. “Once I get drunk I black out completely. I honestly don’t remember a thing. If I caused you any trouble, I’m really sorry.”
Julian’s lips curved slightly.
“You did cause quite a bit of trouble,” he said lightly. “Is ‘sorry‘ supposed to settle it?”
Quinn’s heart skipped. She was terrified he might bring up the details of last night.
“I was drunk,” she said quickly. “Whatever I did wasn’t something I could control. It’s like dreaming. You don’t choose what kind of dream you have.”
Julian looked at her.
“There’s a saying,” he said slowly. “People tend to dream about what they think about during the day.”
Quinn’s face instantly turned red. If that were true, then it meant the reason she acted so boldly while drunk… was because she kept thinking about Julian’s abs.
She refused to admit that. Absolutely not.
But deep down she knew that every memory popping into her head lately seemed to involve exactly that.
Still, she blurted out instinctively. “I wasn’t thinking about your abs!”
The moment the words left her mouth, she froze.
She looked at him, trying to stay composed. “I’m really fine, Mr. Sterling. I should probably head back
now…”
She had barely finished speaking when Julian said something casually.
“I never mentioned abs,” he said. “So how did you know last night, had anything to do with them?”
Quinn’s mind went blank.
When you’re nervous, your brain really stops working.
She had basically confessed on the spot. Now she didn’t even dare look at him.
eyes were already starting to sting. “I’m sorry…”
Seeing her like that, Julian felt a sudden pang in his chest.
He had always known she was sensitive. He shouldn’t have teased her.
“You don’t need to apologize anymore,” Julian said gently. “It’s not a big deal. I didn’t take it seriously. You were drunk. Anyone would understand.”

Quinn clenched her teeth.
Since the truth had already slipped out, there was no point pretending anymore.
Fluished
“I don’t even know what got into me last night,” she said honestly. “Whenever I’ve been drunk before, I just fall asleep. I’ve never done anything like that. I’m really sorry. If I crossed a line, you can be mad at me if
you want.”
Julian said slowly, “I’m actually a pretty conservative person.”
Quinn blinked. She didn’t understand what he meant.
Julian continued, “My body, including my abs, is something only my future wife is allowed to touch.”
Quinn panicked again. “I’m really sorry!” she said quickly. “I….I didn’t mean to. What can I do to make up for it?”
Julian looked at her, amused again despite himself.
“You want to make it up to me?” he asked. “Then answer one question honestly.”
Quinn lowered her head and stared at the small stones near her shoes.
“Go ahead.”
Julian began, “That time on the yacht…”
He hadn’t finished the sentence when he noticed her shoulders tremble. Julian immediately regretted it.

had forgotten how sensitive she was.
“That guy Maddox,” he said. “He’s not in the country anymore. You don’t need to worry about him showing up again.”
Only then did Quinn finally relax.
Just now she had almost thought Julian was going to ask whether she remembered what happened on the yacht.
If he had asked that, she wouldn’t have been able to lie anymore.
Fortunately, that wasn’t what he meant.
“Thank you, Mr. Sterling,” she said softly. “I already owe you so much. I promised to make you clothes, and
I still haven’t done it.”
