After getting ready for the day, Quinn had just stepped out when her phone rang, and seeing Elaine’s name on the screen made her pause for a second before answering.

Elaine said, “Rosalie’s coming back in a few days, so come home, alright?”

Quinn didn’t expect that at all. Rosalie coming back was already surprising, and it made her wonder how things had ended up between Rosalie and Chase, and whether that boyfriend Rosalie mentioned before was even real.

After a brief pause, Quinn agreed to go.

Elaine said, “Quinn, you’re here. Did you already eat?”

The warmth felt unfamiliar, almost uncomfortable, but Quinn still handed over the bag she brought.

Quinn said, “Yeah, I ate. I brought some vitamins and supplements for you.”

Elaine waved her hand as she took it. “You didn’t have to spend money, this is your home, don’t be so

formal.”

Victor’s voice came from the living room, relaxed and welcoming in a way Quinn rarely heard.

Victor said, “Just coming back is enough. Sit down and spend some time with us.”

Quinn couldn’t figure out the reason behind their change. Maybe it really was just because Rosalie was coming back and they were in a good mood.

After she sat down, Elaine got straight to the point.

Elaine said, “Your sister called and said she’ll be back in a few days. With the holidays coming up, your dad and I thought you should just move back home for a while.”

Quinn froze slightly because based on everything she knew about them, that suggestion made no sense, especially now that she was divorced.

She spoke calmly.

Quinn said, “I’m divorced. The paperwork’s done. Chase and I are completely done.”

Elaine nodded quickly.

Victor shot Elaine a warning look, and Elaine quickly laughed it off.

Elaine said, “Nothing, nothing. It’s good for a girl to be a little more reserved.”

Quinn didn’t understand what they were hinting at, but she had no interest in digging into it, so she shifted the topic.

Quinn said, “Rosalie mentioned she has a boyfriend. Is she bringing him home this time?”

That question instantly brightened Elaine’s mood.

Elaine said, “It’s not confirmed yet, but it’s probably happening. When the time comes, our family’s going to have two things to celebrate.”

Quinn caught the wording immediately.

Quinn said, “Two?”

Elaine smiled like it was obvious.

Elaine said, “Aren’t you bringing your boyfriend too?”

Quinn stared at her, completely caught off guard.

Quinn said, “I don’t have a boyfriend. I just got divorced.”

Elaine waved it off like it didn’t matter.

Elaine said, “We know, you don’t have to hide it. Chase already told us. He said your current boyfriend is some big shot, very powerful.”

Quinn paused, and in that moment, everything clicked.

It had to be about Julian stepping in and pressuring Chase, and Chase turning that into something else when he talked to Elaine and Victor.
