Chapter 258 Tender Concern

She reached out and hugged Quinn. “Quinn, long time no see”

Quinn patted her lightly. “Welcome back.”

“Alright, Rosalie’s been on the plane for hours, she must be exhausted. Let’s head back first.”

Elaine had already booked a hotel–Rosalie’s favorite one.

On the ride, Elaine held Rosalic’s hand tightly, fussing over her nonstop.

Quinn sat in the passenger seat, used to this kind of scene by now.

She was always the one being overlooked.

Rosalie suddenly turned to her. “Quinn, I heard you got divorced?”

Quinn said. “Yeah, we finalized everything.”

Rosalie sighed. “That’s a shame. Chase is really not a bad guy.”

Elaine chimed in, “Right? She’s just being so headstrong. How could she get divorced so easily?”

Victor added, “Your mom and I told her to remarry him, but she wouldn’t listen. She thinks she’s all grown up now and won’t obey us anymore!”

Rosalie spoke up. “Dad, Mom, if Quinn insisted on divorcing him, there must be a reason. Don’t scold her.”

Quinn glanced at her in surprise.

Rosalie is sticking up for me?

Last time, she was dead set against the divorce.

They dropped the subject after that.

At dinner, everyone focused entirely on Rosalie. No one mentioned Quinn at all.

After the meal, Quinn said goodbye.

Rosalie asked, “Quinn, I’m back now. Aren’t you coming home? It’s almost Christmas…”

Elaine said, “She doesn’t want to. Leave her alone.”

Quinn smiled faintly. “I’m sharing a place with a friend. I won’t be coming back.”

Victor said, “Alright, get in the car. Rosalie’s had a long day and needs to rest.”

Quinn watched them drive away, then called a taxi to head back.

As soon as she got in the car, she received a message from Julian.

He asked. “Are you done?”

Quinn replied. “Just got in a taxi, heading back”

Julian called her right away.

Quinn answered. “What’s up?”

“I told you to let me know when you were finishing up so I could pick you up.”

“It’s too much trouble,” Quinn said. “It’s not far. I can just take a taxi.”

“Your sister came back today. Are you busy tomorrow?”

It was Saturday, and Julian had mentioned taking them out over the weekend.

Quinn said, “Tomorrow’s free, but I checked the weather. It’s going to snow.”

“Then we won’t go out anywhere else. Just dinner,” Julian said. “Is that okay?”

Quinn said. “That works for me.”

Julian smiled. “Thank you.”

“What for?” Quinn felt shy. “You’re treating us. I should be thanking you.”

“I’m thankful you’re giving me the chance,” Julian said. “I’m really happy.”

Quinn said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up.”

“Don’t,” Julian said. “Wait until you get home.”

“Why?”

“It’s not safe.”

Quinn wanted to laugh, but for some reason, she felt like crying instead.

She’d just watched Victor and Elaine act like the most loving, caring parents in the world.

But their love and care never reached her.

Her heart felt sore and heavy.

Yet one sentence from Julian pulled her right out of it.

She sniffled softly. “I’ll be fine…”

“I’ll worry about you,” Julian said. “I’m still at the office. I was going to pick you up, but you didn’t text me, I’ve been waiting this whole time.”

“Sorry.” Quinn suddenly remembered something. “Has Lucy eaten yet?”
