Chapter 273 The Truth Hits Her
“It was always me,” Geoffrey said. “This whole time.”
Rosalie felt like her world had crashed down around her.
I’ve set my sights on Julian–the head of the Sterling family, a man at the very top of the world.
Who is this guy?
Some secretary, actually daring to lead me on?
She still couldn’t believe it.
Three years of planning, gone
in
an instant.

It was my own fault for not confirming Julian’s identity directly.
But back then. I never dared ask flat–out if he was really Julian Sterling–it would’ve made my intentions way too
obvious.
And all those little details: the meetings he attended, his schedules, the private jet….
Of course. He is Julian’s secretary. He’d be at the same meetings as Julian. He’d get to fly on the Sterling private jet when Julian traveled.
I miscalculated everything.
Rosalie’s jaw tightened with rage.
Geoffrey could sense something was very wrong. “You thought… the man you were talking to was someone else? You thought it was Mr. Sterling?”
Rosalie said nothing.
The shock had completely broken her composure.
Geoffrey might have been just a secretary, but working at Apex Group and on Julian’s personal team meant he was sharp and capable.
He might not compare to Julian, but to most people, he was a top earner making well over six figures a year.
One look at Rosalie’s face and he understood everything.
At first, three years ago, he’d barely paid attention to Rosalie’s advances.
With his salary and status, women hit on him all the time.
But Rosalie had stuck around for three years, wearing down his doubts and making him truly believe in their relationship.
Now the truth was absurdly cruel.

Geoffrey spoke bitterly, “You really need to get real. A man like Mr. Sterling would never be interested in you.”
Rosalie snapped, “What did you just say?”
“Mr. Sterling already has someone he loves,” Geoffrey said.
He’d invested real feelings over these years. He wasn’t some cold–hearted player. He’d actually cared for her.
But seeing how she was acting now, he could piece it all together.
She’d added his account on purpose because she thought it belonged to Julian.
She’d talked to him for years because she thought she was speaking to the head of the Sterlings.
Geoffrey wasn’t stupid–he wouldn’t have his position if he was.
Putting it all together, he saw exactly what she’d been after.
It hurt. It disappointed him deeply.
He’d thought Rosalie was pure and kind.
But it had all been a scheme.
He sighed, “How could you ever believe Mr. Sterling had time to chat with you like that? He barely has time for messages. Most of his texts used to be answered by the secretariat as a team.”
Rosalie stood there stunned. All her plotting, all her careful planning–it had all been for nothing.
Furious and hopeless, she glared at him venomously. “Why didn’t you say anything? Why?!”
Seeing her true colors laid bare, Geoffrey felt both disappointed and pained.
But he quickly let it go.
After years working beside Julian, he’d learned to keep his head.
