Quinn slept and woke up with a stuffy nose and a headache–she’d caught a cold.

She grabbed her phone and saw several messages, one from Julian.

He’d written, “Still asleep? I’m on my way over to make dinner. It’ll be ready when you wake up.”

Quinn scrambled out of bed so quickly she swayed a little.

She washed up quickly in the bathroom and stepped out of the bedroom.

Julian was just carrying a plate out of the kitchen.

Lucy was beside him, chatting away.

They’d been about to knock on her door if she hadn’t come out soon.

Quinn’s gaze fixed on Julian, and she only realized she’d been staring when she snapped back to herself.

She quickly looked away.

Lucy snickered.

Quinn blushed.

Julian shot Lucy a sharp look.

Lucy clamped her mouth shut at once.

Ugh, he still took her side over his own sister.

“Come eat,” Julian said. “You don’t look well.”

He set the plate down, strode over, and touched her forehead.

No fever–just warm.

But her cheeks were pink.

“I’m fine…” she said, but her voice sounded off.

“She definitely has a cold.” Lucy said. “Listen to how stuffy her voice is.”

“We’re going to the hospital,” Julian said.

“It’s really nothing.” Quinn waved her hands quickly. “Just a headache. I probably just got too cold.”

“You sat out there alone for so long,” Lucy said. “What did you expect in this weather? Of course you’d catch something.”

“I’ll call Gunnar,” Julian said. He went to the living room to get his phone.

Lucy pulled Quinn into a seat. “Don’t worry about it. Let him call. He won’t relax otherwise.”

Quinn sat down and asked, “When did Julian get here?”

“Right after you fell asleep. He’s been cooking ever since.” Lucy poured her a bowl of soup. “Drink this first to warm up.”

“We’ll wait for Julian to start.”

Lucy grinned at her. “So… have you and Julian made any progress?”

Quinn felt shy all of a sudden.

She’d cried and thrown a fit, making a fool of herself in front of him.

And she’d been completely wrong the whole time.

Thinking back to how she’d reacted…

It was so obvious she’d been jealous.

She wondered what Julian must have thought.

What did Julian think?

He was thrilled.

Quinn’s reaction proved she cared about him. That was why she’d been so hurt when she’d believed Rosalie’s lie.
