It had all been a misunderstanding, but it had shown him exactly how Quinn felt about him.
He called Gunnar, got his advice, then headed back to the dining room.
“He said we should watch your temperature in case you develop a fever. Since your nose is already stuffy,
you can take some medicine first, I’ll have someone bring it over.”
Julian sat directly beside Quinn.
Lucy immediately poured him a bowl of soup too.
“Drink a couple of bowls,” he said. “Warm yourself up properly.”
“I’m already warm,” Quinn said.
“Are you ever going to do something that stupid again?”
Quinn lowered her head and shook it.
Lucy watched them, thoroughly entertained, secretly enjoying every second.
Does anyone know how good it feels to watch your favorite couple finally getting close?
Okay, fine–they aren’t officially together yet.
But the way things are going, it won’t be long.
After dinner, Lucy could tell Quinn was shy about all the sweet tension between them.
So she wisely excused herself and went to her room.
Julian wanted to explain the whole Rosalie situation to Quinn in detail anyway.
Quinn had already read the files he’d sent and was still stunned.
Julian filled in the rest.
In the end, he said, “It was all a mix–up. She spent all this time thinking she was talking to me. But that was never possible. I don’t have the time, and I wouldn’t have been interested even if I did.”
Quinn still couldn’t believe how careless Rosalie had been.
From what she knew, Rosalie always planned every move carefully.
How could she have never confirmed his identity before assuming it was Julian?
“Because my secretary often follows the same schedule I do,” Julian explained. “And they never voice–called or video–chatted in all that time.”
Quinn still found the mistake unbelievable.

“Either way, the misunderstanding’s cleared up now,” Julian said. “I just wonder how your sister’s taking it.”
Quinn knew Rosalie must be miserable.
She was vain, competitive, and hated feeling inferior. Even abroad, she’d fake wealth to keep up appearances.
When she’d told Quinn her boyfriend was Julian, she’d looked so proud.
To someone like her, Julian’s status was untouchable.
To have him as her boyfriend?
If Quinn hadn’t known the truth, she would’ve thought Rosalie was incredibly clever to win someone like him over.
But reality proved she’d had the wrong man all along.
Her powerful boyfriend was just the powerful man’s secretary.
Could she handle that kind of crash?
Rosalie couldn’t.
But she had no choice.
She forced down her raging emotions and played nice with Geoffrey.
She couldn’t afford to turn him against her, or even show she blamed him.
But Geoffrey wasn’t easy to fool.
It took a long string of excuses from Rosalie to make him smile at her again.
When she finally got home after meeting him, Elaine and Victor were waiting to hear good news.
She was too drained to deal with them, mumbled a few vague replies, and locked herself in her room.
She didn’t even dare smash things loudly. Instead, she threw her pillow against the headboard over and over, venting her rage and frustration.
How could this be happening?
