Chapter 293 Cold Refusal
Ever since their divorce, Chase had been texting Quinn nonstop.
She never replied, and often blocked his number entirely.
He’d had no idea where to find her, even if he’d wanted to see her.
Seeing her now, all the longing he’d felt for days crashed over him at once.
When he said he loved her, he meant it.
To him, she looked more beautiful than ever.

Her skin was smooth and pale, her eyes bright and expressive–every little movement tugged at his heart.
How was I so blind to
ore someone this wonderful for three whole years?
She was my wife, the person closest to me in the world, and I didn’t even touch her.
How could I have been so foolish?
“Quinn!” He strode toward her and called her name.
Only then did he notice the handsome man standing beside her.
He’s good–looking, sure, but way too thin–like a light gust of wind can knock him over.
se said, suddenly confident now that he thought he had the upper hand. “You’re shopping? Pick you like. I’ll pay for it.”
He’d pursued
any girl besides Rosalie.
But he
knew Rosalie had loved it when he bought her things, even if she didn’t say it outright.
Back then, he’d been happy to spoil her.
Now that he didn’t love her anymore, he wouldn’t spend a cent on her.
It was the same with Quinn.
He loved her now, so he wanted to give her everything.
Quinn frowned. “I don’t need you to.”
They were divorced.
There was no way she would let him buy her anything.
Chase said, “Quinn, I don’t mean anything by it. Christmas‘ coming up–let it be an early gift. We might… not be together anymore, but friends can still give presents, right?”
Quinn shook her head firmly. “No, thank you. We’re nothing to each other now. Not even friends.”

Chase pressed on. “Then… can I court you? It’s normal to give gifts when you’re chasing someone.”
Rosalie listened from the side, fuming.
So that’s why he didn’t buy me anything.
He was saving all his generosity for Quinn.
Once, she’d been the one who got this special treatment.
Now it was Quinn.
If she’d never been spoiled like this before, it wouldn’t hurt so badly.
But she had–and now he was fawning over Quinn instead.
She couldn’t stand it.
“Chase!” she cut in sharply. “Did you forget why you came here?”
She shot him a look, hinting for him to focus on the man next to Quinn.
Chase glanced
at Jess, irritation flaring—but he quickly calmed down.
He and Quinn were divorced. He had no right to accuse her of anything.
He’d lost his temper
for a second, but regained control fast.
Is this guy really with Quinn?
He doesn’t seem like anything special.
Chase was sure he could win her fair and square.
He turned to Jess. “You’re a friend of Quinn’s?”
Jess already guessed who he was and wanted nothing to do with him.
Quinn spoke first, “Chase, is this really necessary? We’re divorced. What I do, who I’m friends with–it’s none of your business.”
Chase hurried to say, “Quinn, I don’t mean anything. I just… want to warn you. Some people have bad intentions. Don’t let yourself be fooled.”
Quinn didn’t bother responding to him. She turned to Jess instead. “I’ll get going now.”
