Chapter 394 Choosing Love Over Status
When Claire first found out Julian was dating someone, she had asked Lucy about it.
But Lucy was close to Julian-though Claire still wasn’t sure when the two had gotten so tight. Julian had always kept his distance from the younger family members, given his personality.
She hadn’t gotten a single detail out of Lucy back then.
She hoped this meeting would be different.
Lucy arrived not long after. When she saw Claire, she hurried over.
“Aunt Claire, sorry I’m late. Traffic was terrible.”
Claire waved it off and motioned for her to sit. “I got here early anyway. I stopped by Julian’s office earlier; it’s just nearby.”
“Oh.” Lucy sat down and got straight to the point. “If you’re asking about Julian, I can’t say. Is it something else?”
Claire smiled. “Don’t play dumb. I went to his office today and almost met his girlfriend.”
“Really?” Lucy looked surprised. “Julian brought Quinn to work?”
Claire now knew the girl’s name, and that she and Lucy were close friends.
“I did. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see her.”
“Aunt Claire, Quinn isn’t ready yet. Besides, they’ve only been together a few months. It’s too soon for meeting parents.”
“A few months is long enough.” Claire sighed. “Julian isn’t young anymore. It’s about time he settled down and gave us grandchildren.”
“Aunt Claire,” Lucy said, looking at her seriously, “Quinn’s family is really ordinary. You and Uncle really don’t mind that?”
“Would it matter if we were?” Claire replied. “Your uncle and I would’ve preferred someone from a similar background, not for the money, but because huge differences in family can lead to clashing values. I just worry they’ll run into problems after marriage.”
“That’s true. But you don’t have to worry about Julian and Quinn. They’re perfect together I never thought Julian would be like this when he’s in love.”
“Love is all we and good, but real life is different,” Claire said. “You know how stubborn Julian is. Who car ever tell him what to do?”
“I still believe in them. Lucy leaned forward. You’re not planning to split them up, are you.
“Of course not.” Claire shook her head. “But I haven’t even met her, and I cant stop worrying Julian won’t

let me see her. Since you two are best friends, could you set something up so I can just sneak a look?” “No way!” Lucy waved her hands quickly. “If Julian finds out, I’m dead. And I could never do that to Quinn. “I’m just so curious,” Claire pleaded. “Do you know why she’s not ready? Is she worried about something?”
“Aunt Claire, like you said-their families are nothing alike. Quinn overthinks a lot. She’s… probably scared you’ll look down on her.”
“That’s ridiculous,” Claire said firmly. “Anyone Julian chooses can’t be anything less than amazing.”
“Then just leave them be,” Lucy said. “You’re only putting pressure on both of them. Let things happen naturally.”
Claire was only this anxious because it concerned Julian.
She was normally calm and composed.
But she’d been waiting for nearly half a year, and Julian still hadn’t brought the girl home.
Clara’s family had also been dropping hints every now and then.
As if she’d ever consider them over her own son.
A strategic marriage with a matching family had its benefits, of course.
But her son’s happiness mattered more.
She had once thought Clara would be a good match for Julian.
But now that he was with someone else, Clara was no longer on her radar.
Still, Clara’s family’s attitude irked her.
They kept implying that Julian’s new relationship wouldn’t last, and that when he was ready to marry, Clara’d still be the first choice.
It made her blood boil.
Who were they to say her son’s relationship wouldn’t last?
She and her husband had married for business, but their relationship had grown deep and loving over the
years.
She didn’t care what others thought; she knew the truth of their marriage.

And because she had a happy marriage, she wanted the same for her son She had once worried that Julian’s cold, distant nature would keep him four ever knowing real love
Life had surprised her in the best way possible-

Besides, the Sterling family was already so successful that they didn’t need a marriage to strengthen their position.
Julian alone had built the family wealth to heights no one had ever seen.
She was incredibly proud of him.
