Chapter 409 Agreeing to Marry Me
Finished
“Not at all.” Claire finally placked up the courage to hold her hand, shipping the jade bangle off her own wrist. “Quinn…”
“Mrs. Sterling…” Quinn tried to pull away yet dared not act rude, growing flustered at once. The fine jade piece looked extremely valuable.
“Please don’t turn me down.” Claire fastened the bangle around her wrist gently. “It’s just a little token from me.”
Julian spoke up, “Just keep it. Mom has long envied her friends who got to welcome their son’s beloved girl and pass down precious keepsakes. She’s been waiting ages for this moment.”
“I have gifts too,” Warren chimed in. “This bangle is an extra gift. All these things laid out here are presents we prepared for you.”
Staring at the pile of fine gifts on the table, Quinn felt utterly at a loss.
“Thank
you
both so much.” Julian smiled and cut in. “We ought to head off now.”
Quinn meant to say something more, yet Julian simply took her hand and led her away.
Warren and Claire stood at the gate of the villa, watching them get into the car.
The vehicle drove dozens of yards ahead, and Quinn glanced back, still seeing the elderly couple standing there quietly.
Julian had no siblings. Ever since he moved out, only the two elders stayed in the huge house.
“You should come back to keep them company more often in your spare time,” Quinn said softly.
“I won’t,” Julian replied casually. “I’ve had enough watching them dote on each other all day long. They are so close that they often forget they once had a lonely single son. Though I’m not single anymore, they deserve their quiet sweet time alone.”
“I see.”
Quinn could truly tell how deep their affection ran. Such sincere devotion was quite rare among wealthy families. She had once heard Lucy say many rich couples lived under the same roof yet shared no real bond at all. It was truly wonderful to see Julian’s parents stay so loving all these years.
“By the way, their gifts are far too precious.” Quinn took off the jade bangle. “You hold onto it for me.”
“It’s meant for you.” Julian put it back on her wrist again. “It fits Mom perfectly and is a little loose on you. Still, jade jewelry suits you wonderfully. I’ll buy you one in the right size later.”
“No need,” Quinn refused. “I draw paintings and make outfits quite often. Wearing this will get in my way. It would be such a pity if it got scratched or damaged.”
“You don’t have to wear it every day. Just keep it by your side. Put it on whenever you want.” Julian held her soft hand tightly. “Your hands are so pretty. They deserve such fine ornaments.”

Quinn leaned lightly against him. “I feel uneasy accepting such pricey things.”
“They are gifts given sincerely by elders who adore you. There is no need to feel burdened. Julian pulled her onto his lap. “Or do you have no wish to stay by my side for good?”
Though the back seat was private, Quinnstill felt uneasy being intimate in the car.
She pushed him gently. “Let me go. Stop fooling around.”
“Why feel shy? No one else can see us.”
Quinn rested her head on his shoulder softly. “Julian, all this feels just like a sweet dream.”
Julian patted her back tenderly just like comforting a child. “Then promise you, this sweet dream will last you an entire lifetime.”
A warm smile spread across Quinn’s face. She said nothing more and pressed a light kiss against his earlobe.
Julian’s body stiffened slightly. He leaned back a little and then leaned in to kiss her deeply. Neither of them noticed when the car came to a complete stop.
The tender kiss quickly stirred up deep longing between them.
Meeting Julian’s parents had been a major matter weighing on Quinn’s heart, and now the big worry was finally settled.
Julian had known his parents would grow fond of Quinn, but seeing their genuine fondness with his own eyes finally put his mind fully at ease.
They grew so immersed in the kiss that Julian had to pull himself away reluctantly.
“Don’t forget my birthday present,” he reminded her in a low voice.
Quinn nearly laughed out loud. “Why would you bring this upright now?”
“It just popped into my mind. I don’t want you to forget.”
“I’ve asked what you want, but you never tell me.”
“You have to figure it out on your own.” Julian smiled softly. “I have countless wishes. Can you grant all of them?”
“Like what?”
“For instance, agreeing to marry

Julian chuckled lightly. “So take your time and think carefully about what gift to prepare.”
In truth, Quinn had already made up her mind long ago, yet she worried it might not live up to his

After all, this gift was rather plain.
Not exactly plain though, Quinn could not even find the proper words to describe it.
She decided to stop overthinking and wait until his birthday arrived.
Mark arrived sooner than expected.
He did not come alone.
By the time Julian got the news, Mark had already arrived.
“I came here with my wife,” he said. “She still remembers that plot of land, so I brought her along to have a look.”
“I’ll host a dinner to welcome you two tonight,” Julian offered.
“My wife is in poor health and cannot attend such banquets. I appreciate your kindness, but we have to turn down the dinner invitation.”
