Chapter 414 No Mercy for the Guilty

Finished.

Julian felt his heart ache deeply. “It has nothing to do with you. The other party is fully to blame.”

Quinn needed to go through another medical checkup. She sat in a wheelchair while Julian pushed her along.

They had to wait outside the examination room, Watching her walk in, Julian dialed Mark’s number right

away.

The moment the call connected, he spoke sharply. “I’m calling off our cooperation.”

Mark fell into confusion. “What did you say?”

“I said the deal is canceled.” Julian’s tone turned icy cold. “Mr. Jinn, I never thought you could be so underhanded.”

Mark was totally confused by the sudden scolding. “Julian, what on earth are you talking about?”

“I don’t care if you knew about this or not. You’d better go ask Faye about it yourself.”

“Faye?” Mark grew even more puzzled. “What has she done?”

Julian ended the call without another word.

Mark stayed silent for a few seconds and quickly gave an order. “Look into Faye’s recent whereabouts and everything she has been up to lately.”

His subordinates carried out the thorough investigation in full detail. They sorted out every place she visited, every person she met and every call she made, then handed all the records over to Mark.

After reading through all the facts, Mark flew into a rage and tossed the documents hard onto the floor.

A soft knock came at the door soon after, then it was pushed open. Xenia poked her head inside gently. “Honey, what do you want for dinner? I feel like eating out.”

Γ All anger faded away from Mark’s face in an instant. He stepped forward quickly and led her inside. “Anything you want to eat is fine.”

He was truly glad to see her willing to go out and enjoy meals outside.

“I suddenly remembered that small diner we used to visit here years ago,” Xenia said. “Do you remember it?”

still

Mark kept every sweet memory with her firmly in mind. He smiled softly. “I do. I just wonder if it is still in business after all these years.”

“Let’s go check it out,” Xenia suggested. “Also, I want to stay here a few more days. Is that okay?”

Mark was quite surprised by her wish. “You like this place that much? We can stay as long as you want, I will stay right here with you.”

“Great!” Xenia looked cheerful and joyful.

Seeing her happy was everything Mark wished for most in life. Nothing mattered more than his wife’s good mood.

“How about we move into our private villa here?” he asked.

He owned a house in this city, yet he had never planned to settle in since he only intended for a short stay at first.

“Let’s stay there for quite a while then,” Xenia replied. “You can send people to tidy it up.”

Xenia never bothered herself with trivial chores, and Mark was always happy to take care of everything for her.

“I will arrange it right away.”

Xenia looked a little worried. “Won’t your company work pile up without you going back? I can stay here alone if you need to head back early.”

“There is no way I will leave you here all by yourself.” Mark refused firmly. “I can handle all business matters remotely. I will stay with you no matter how long you plan to stay.”

Xenia held his hand tightly. “After dinner, let’s go pick out soft cushions and potted plants. I want to decorate our little home personally.”

Mark reached out and stroked her hair gently. “Sure thing.”

While Xenia went to change her clothes, Mark took the initiative to ring Julian up.

Julian answered quickly yet remained silent on the line.

“I sincerely apologize first,” Mark spoke first. “It was my young family member who made this terrible mistake.”

“Do you think a simple apology can make everything go away easily?” Julian’s voice was filled with cold

r anger, “I never expected your niece to hire someone to run into my lover. This is an attempted murder.”

“I have no intention of brushing this incident aside lightly,” Mark said seriously. “We will follow legal procedures and let the law give her proper punishment. By the way, do you happen to know Faye well?”

“I have never had any connection with her at all!” Julian retorted angrily. “What exactly are you implying?” “I just cannot figure out why she would do such a reckless thing.”

“You don’t need to find out the reason. A crime deserves due punishment, and she will face severe legal consequences.” Julian added plainly, “Please do not get involved in this matter.”

Julian had no solid evidence to prove Mark was behind the whole plot. All investigation results showed Faye only lived a casual idle life and kept distant relations with Mark. A man of Mark’s status would never use his niece to carry out such dirty deeds. That was why Julian never suspected Mark from the start.

Now Faye’s motive no longer mattered. The only thing confirmed was that she must pay for what she had

“Rest assured,” Mark prosused firmly, “Even though she is my niece, I will never shield her from legal sanctions once she breaks the law. Is your lover doing alright after the accident?”

“If she had been badly hurt. I would never be talking to you so calmly right now.”

“I truly feel terrible about this whole tragedy, Mark said in sincere regret. “My wife and I would like to pay her a visit to show our concern.”
