Chapter 91 A New Opportunity
Quinn glanced at the phone.

On the screen was a male celebrity wearing a sparkling stage outfit. His sharp features and hair made him look polished and energetic.
He was definitely handsome.
Still. Quinn felt something was missing.
Guys like that looked good, but they lacked a certain presence, a kind of bold strength that made someone feel truly masculine.
They just did not have that edge.
Someone like Julian, though, had both, the looks and that unmistakable confidence that made him feel like a real man.
She froze.
Why am I thinking about Julian?
“Quinn, what do you think?” Lucy asked beside her.
Quinn nodded quickly. “Yeah, he’s handsome.”
“Right?” Lucy grinned proudly. “I told you. He’s the best-looking guy on the planet. And he’s super nice. He treats his fans really well.”
“All right, all right,” Veronica said. “We’re eating. Stop staring at his picture.”
Once everyone settled at the table, Veronica brought up something more serious.
“By the way, I’ve got a client,” Veronica said. “Big-time businessman. He and his wife are celebrating their thirtieth wedding anniversary. He already owns some raw gemstones and wants someone to design a full jewelry set. The pay is really good. Do you two want to take the job?”
Lucy immediately said, “Quinn totally can! Her drawing skills are incredible. Back in school, the teachers always said she had real talent. We had design classes too, and her work was always displayed in the exhibitions.”
Quinn shook her head. “It’s not that impressive. A wealthy client like that would probably want a famous designer. Someone like me wouldn’t even be on their radar.”
“Not necessarily,” Veronica said. “Tell you what. Send me some of your previous designs later and I’ll show them to him. If he likes the style, we’re good. Money like that shouldn’t go to strangers when it can stay in the family.”
Lucy nodded enthusiastically. “Exactly. I think Quinn can definitely do it.”
“Alright,” Quinn said. “I’ll send you some of my old designs later. Honestly, I could use the money too.”

That had been Veronica’s thought all along.
Quinn was divorcing Chase and had refused his money. Her parents clearly were not going to support her.
After the divorce, she needed her own source of income.
“Send them after dinner,” Veronica said. “I want to get back to the client as soon as possible.”
As soon as they finished eating. Lucy urged Quinn to send the images.
When Veronica received them, she scrolled through while forwarding them to the client.
“Quinn, these are amazing.” Veronica said. “Honestly, I think these pieces look better than some luxury brands.”
“See?” Lucy said excitedly. “I told you Quinn is incredible.”
Quinn felt a little embarrassed. “I just like drawing this kind of stuff.”
When designing clothes, jewelry often served as the finishing touch. Quinn had loved sketching accessories since she was young. When her SAT results came out, she even argued with Elaine and her husband about what major she should choose.
They wanted her to study something more traditional, then continue graduate school and eventually become a college professor.
For a woman, teaching sounded respectable. It made parents proud. But Quinn insisted on studying fashion design.
In the end, Rosalie helped persuade them. Only then did Elaine and her husband agree.
The truth was, Rosalie did not want Quinn to become a college professor.
It was the kind of career people respected and looked up to. Rosalie had no intention of letting Quinn build a future like that.
So she stepped in and spoke up for her.
Quinn never realized Rosalie’s real intentions. Because of that moment, she spent years feeling grateful to
her.
Still, Quinn genuinely loved drawing and had natural talent. After entering college and receiving professional training, she improved even more.
Not long after Veronica forwarded the designs, the client replied. He asked for information about the designer.
Veronica smiled. “Quinn, this looks promising. This client is very picky. If he replied this quickly, it means he likes your style.”
She looked at Quinn. “He wants to know more about you. What should I tell him?”

Latey began counting on her fingers. “Age, gender, which university you graduated from, competitions you joined, awards you won…”
While Lucy spoke, Quinn typed the details and sent the information to Veronica.
Veronica forwarded it imminediately.
The client responded quickly again, saying he would like to meet Quinn and hear her ideas about jewelry design.
Veronica smiled. “Looks like it’s happening. Whether you land the job or not will depend on you.”
Quinn said. “Thanks, Veronica. If I get the project, dinner’s on me.”
“Deal.” Lucy said. “But Quinn hasn’t been feeling well these past couple days and still needs IV treatment. Maybe schedule the meeting the day after tomorrow?”
Quinn had no objections.
Veronica set the appointment for three in the afternoon two days later, at a coffee shop.
“I’ll pick you up,” Veronica said. “It’s your first time meeting him. I’ll go with you.”
Quinn had been quietly worrying about that exact thing. Hearing Veronica say it made her feel relieved.
“That would be great. Thank you.”
