Chapter 90 Secrets and Speculation
Finished
The way Julian was pursuing someone like this would shock just about anyone who heard about it. The only problem was that the woman at the center of it all had absolutely no idea.
Veronica could not help feeling a little envious of Quinn. Quinn’s life had never been easy. Her adoptive parents had always been cold and calculating, her marriage had been miserable, and her husband had proven himself completely shameless.
But none of that would last forever. Sooner or later, all of it would pass, and a brighter future would be waiting for her.
After all, with Julian around. Quinn would never be left unprotected.
It never once crossed Veronica’s mind to wonder whether Quinn even wanted that kind of protection. In her eyes, a man like Julian was simply impossible to turn down. As long as Quinn was not foolish, she would eventually end up with him.
And when that happened, her life would change overnight.
Quinn had no idea what Veronica was thinking, but she could sense the sincerity behind her words.
Lucy stretched and pushed herself to her feet.
“In that case, Quinn should get some rest, Lucy said. “Veronica ordered food from a restaurant, and it should arrive soon. I’ll wake you up when dinner gets here.”
Quinn’s body was still weak, and she could not keep pushing herself.
After chatting a little longer, she returned to the bedroom to lie down.
Once the door closed, Lucy turned toward Veronica.
“Be honest with me,” Lucy said. “You’re always busy, but suddenly you’re this invested in Quinn’s divorce. Is this Seven’s idea?”
Veronica looked at her and smirked.
“You act clueless most of the time, but apparently you’re not as slow as you look.”
“Hey, I’m not slow,” Lucy protested. “I’m actually pretty smart. So you’re admitting it?”
“Can’t you tell what he is thinking?”
Lucy rubbed her chin. “Honestly, I’m shocked. Seven is not exactly the romantic type.”
“You’re not the only one who’s surprised,” Veronica said. “Julian falling for someone is about the last thing anyone would expect. Anyone who hears about it would be shocked.”
Lucy frowned.
“But Quinn just went through all this,” she said. “She definitely won’t be interested in dating anyone

anytime soon.”
“That might be true for other men.” Veronica replied. “But if that man is Julian, do you really think any woman could resist him?”
Lucy shook her head.
“I’m not so sure. Quinn isn’t the kind of girl who cares about money.”
“She might not care about money.” Veronica said, “but does she care about looks? Even if Julian had no wealth or status, that face alone would make women lose their minds. And have you seen his physique? Most men cannot compete with that.”
Lucy rolled her eyes.
“You’re listing all of Julian’s advantages, but Quinn isn’t that shallow. Personality matters way more than appearances. Seven is cold, boring, and barely ever smiles. If she ended up dating him, her life would be so dull.”
Veronica laughed.
“You’re not as smart as you think,” she said. “The way Julian acts around us doesn’t mean he acts the same way with a girlfriend. Of course it would be different.”
Lucy frowned thoughtfully.
“I still can’t picture Julian in a relationship,” she admitted. “His face is handsome, sure, but honestly he scares me. Quinn is scared of him too. There’s no way she’d want to be his girlfriend.”
“Don’t overthink it,” Veronica said. “And don’t tell Quinn anything about his feelings. Just let things happen naturally.”
Lucy nodded. “Alright. So what about you lately?”
Veronica leaned back against the couch cushion. “What about me?”
“You and your husband,” Lucy said carefully. “Are you planning to get divorced?”
Veronica shrugged. “We’re basically business partners at this point. All the companies, shares, and assets under his name are tied to both of us. Divorcing would be extremely complicated.”
“But if there’s no love left, what’s the point of staying married?” Lucy asked. “And he cheated on you.”
Lucy sighed.
“Lucy, haven’t you figured it out yet? Families like ours rarely marry for love. It’s usually about compatibility and interests. We share the title of husband and wife, but that’s about it. I don’t interfere with his life, and he doesn’t interfere with mine. We each do our own thing.”
Lucy stared at her. “Wait. Does that mean you also have someone else?”
Veronica shook her head.

“No. None of the men I’ve met are interesting enough. Unless you can find someone like Seven for me?”
Lucy wayed both hands immediately.
“You like his type?” she said. “Sure, he’s handsome, has a great body, and he’s incredibly capable, but he terrifies me. If I ever date someone, I want a guy who spoils me and makes me laugh all the time. Someone like Seven doing that? Not in a million years.”
Veronica chuckled. “I’m way past the age of dreaming about fairy tales.”
Then she added seriously. “Anyway, remember to keep Julian’s feelings for Quinn a secret.”
Lucy nodded. “Got it. Honestly, real life is exhausting. I’ll just stick to crushing on celebrities instead.”
Veronica snorted.
“Celebrities aren’t reliable either. One scandal and their careers collapse overnight.”
“Hey, don’t curse my idols!”
By the time Quinn woke up and came out of the bedroom, Lucy was enthusiastically showing Veronica pictures of one of her favorite stars.
She waved excitedly when she saw Quinn.
“Quinn, come look at this,” Lucy said. “Isn’t my idol ridiculously handsome?”
The end of the year was approaching, and the events were everywhere. Many celebrities had already announced appearances at major TV countdown shows.
Some of their outfits had even been revealed early as a special treat for fans.
