Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 107

Daniel frowned. “Camilla, we haven’t even gotten that far. Why are you shutting me out like this? Can’t you give me even the tiniest chance?”

Camilla didn’t hesitate. “What you did was a crime. Tell me, how pathetic would I have to be to stay with someone who hurt me like that?”

“Don’t say it like that.” Daniel’s voice was tight. “I told you I’d change. Can’t you just wait and see how I act from now on?”

“That’s your problem, not mine,” Camilla replied. “Whether I accept it or not is up to me. You keep pushing your opinions onto me, never once showing any respect, and you still expect me to give you another chance?”

Daniel tried to sound sincere. “I’m going to do my best. I’ll prove it to you. I promise, I won’t force you anymore, but I am never getting a divorce. Camilla, I really want us to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Camilla gave a little smile, her eyes cold. “Oh, really? Does that mean you’re not in love with Barbara anymore?”

Daniel let out a helpless sigh. “Why do you always bring her up? Fine, I admit it, I liked her, but that’s over now. I just want a good life with you. Can we please forget about her?”

“I can’t accept a husband who still has feelings for someone else—not to mention you could just hand me over like I meant nothing. If it happened once, what’s to stop it from happening again? I can’t trust you anymore.”

“I was threatened by Owen Gates. Seriously, you can call him right now and I’ll talk to him face to face. I swear, I was forced to do it.” Something seemed to click in Daniel’s head. “You can reach him, right? I can’t seem to get in touch with him for some reason. I heard he went overseas.”

Daniel watched her carefully. “What did he say to you?”

Camilla stared down at her hands. For a second, she wanted to slap Daniel hard across the face. But she didn’t even want to touch him—not even to hurt him.

Daniel’s eyes widened. “Did he actually say that to you? Don’t be scared, okay? I promise I won’t mess up like that again. If he ever tries to hurt you, I’d do anything to stop him, even if it costs me everything.”

“Should I be thanking you for that?” Camilla asked.

“Camilla, I mean it. I want to spend my life with you. I’m not just saying it.” Daniel’s voice grew desperate. “You don’t have to test me. I’ll never make that mistake again.”

Camilla shook her head, her voice flat. “The Camilla you knew is already gone. She died the day you gave her away. Daniel, you can fix some mistakes, but the dead don’t come back.”

“But you’re still here,” Daniel protested. “Your parents forgave me, and even Barbie. Why can’t you? You used to love me so much.”
