Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 117

Galen showed up in no time.

Catheleen was steadying Camilla as they made their way out of the bathroom.

Galen stepped closer. “What happened?”

But as soon as he got near, Camilla recoiled, taking a step back so suddenly she almost slammed into the doorframe.

Lambert’s voice was sharp from the side. “Stay away from her.”

Galen just glanced at Lambert, kind of piecing together what was going on.

Catheleen, clearly worried but trying not to make things worse, gently guided Camilla over to the sofa.

Camilla looked pale, with damp lashes and that worn out, guarded look she got when she was overwhelmed.

Catheleen had seen Camilla go in for a kiss with Lambert, and honestly, after the initial shock, she had felt a flicker of hope. If Camilla and Lambert actually ended up together, that would be amazing.

But now, something was obviously wrong with Camilla.

Catheleen scowled in Lambert’s direction, mind racing.

Lambert didn’t even notice. He was totally focused on Camilla, a mix of worry and guilt flickering in his eyes. He was used to being in control of his life, always sure of himself and his plans, but when it came to Camilla, nothing played out the way he expected. Everything about her threw him off balance and made him ache.

Galen interrupted with a quick, “She hasn’t finished her IV. I’ll have the nurse come redo it. Is it your stomach? Can you tell me what’s going on? If you need more meds, I can adjust it.”

Camilla finally started to calm down. Before, her body had just reacted—she hadn’t even had time to think—but now, with Lambert and Galen giving her space, and Catheleen right there, she could breathe again.

She shook her head. “I’m okay. Really, thank you.”

Galen raised an eyebrow. “That medication can be tough on your stomach. Did you eat breakfast?”

Once Camilla was back and curled up in bed, she finally felt like she could breathe again.

Catheleen perched on the edge of the bed, looking hesitant. “Cammie, earlier... what really happened? Is it okay if I ask? You can tell me, but if you’d rather not, it’s fine.”

If Camilla wouldn’t talk, Catheleen was a second away from cornering Lambert instead—no way was she going to let her best friend get hurt, not even by him. Still, Catheleen couldn’t shake what she’d seen: Camilla leaning in first. Was it really possible Lambert had threatened her?

Camilla replied softly, “Honestly, it wasn’t a big deal. I just got up too fast, felt dizzy, and Lambert caught me...”

She gave Catheleen a quick, simple rundown of what had happened.

Catheleen’s eyes widened as it clicked. “So you kissed him by accident? I always thought that only happened on TV shows! Didn’t realize real life could be that dramatic. But... seriously, Cammie, why did you freak out so badly?”

Camilla shook her head, baffled. “I don’t know... I didn’t really process anything. I just felt sick.”
