Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 118

Catheleen’s heart squeezed with worry. “Stop thinking so much. Close your eyes and get some rest.”

Camilla nodded, but her voice was faint. “Catheleen, if I still need an IV tomorrow, can I switch rooms? Or maybe just sit in the main hall for a while.”

“You can’t go to the main hall,” Catheleen replied, catching the drift. “Don’t worry, I’ll tell Lambert to stay away from this room. Honestly, it’s kind of weird. He never used to come here. It was always Galen going over to his place. I have no idea what got into him today.”

Camilla didn’t answer. She wasn’t sure what was up with Lambert either… or maybe she just didn’t want to dig too deep into what any of this meant.

Catheleen noticed Camilla had closed her eyes, so she tiptoed out of the room.

Down the hall, Lambert was still in Galen’s office.

Galen exhaled slowly. “What did you do to her? That reaction was… intense.”

Lambert’s expression was like ice. He didn’t want to talk at all, but there was no way around it, so he explained what had happened.

After hearing the story, Galen leaned back. “This sounds pretty serious. She’s showing immediate stress symptoms.”

Lambert remembered what Latonia had mentioned about her clients. Some of them became so traumatized they couldn’t even handle being near a man again, completely shutting down. What was happening with Camilla seemed even worse.

He’d never imagined anyone would be so repulsed by him. When Camilla dashed into the bathroom to throw up, he’d been left completely stunned. It took him a moment to realize she got sick just because she had gotten close to him, because he’d touched her.

He’d always thought Camilla’s condition wasn’t that bad, or maybe he just trusted her — and himself — to get through it. He had been convinced he could help her pull through. After today, that confidence got hit hard.

“This is way out of my comfort zone,” Galen admitted. “You’ve got my classmate’s information. Reach out to him. I can’t help with this.”

As he spoke, Catheleen walked in, her face all tight with nerves. “Lambert, um… are you coming back for another IV tomorrow?”

Lambert stopped in his tracks, looking at her with that cool stare. “You’re doing this on purpose.”

Catheleen shrunk back immediately. “No, no, I’m just joking! Promise, I’ll take really good care of Cammie.”

Lambert pulled out his phone, tapped away, and said, “Make sure she eats properly.”

Catheleen’s phone buzzed, and when she checked it, her jaw dropped. Lambert had transferred a huge chunk of money, more than she’d ever gotten for the holidays. That was her spending money for the whole year, easily.

“Understood! Mission accepted!”

When Catheleen slipped back into the room, Camilla was already on the phone.
