Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 121

Camilla was fiddling with her scarf, her head down, not even noticing the person standing nearby. When she finally looked up, she found herself facing a stretched limousine. Next to it stood a bodyguard who looked oddly familiar.

The car door opened, and a man stepped out—tall enough to make the sidewalk feel narrower. Camilla’s gaze lifted before she could stop it—and there he was. Lambert, exactly as striking as she remembered. For a second, all she could do was stare, caught completely off guard.

Lambert was actually wearing glasses.

Without glasses, he always seemed so mysterious, untouchable, cold. His presence could fill a room and keep everyone at a distance. Even his gaze was sharp and distant, giving off the kind of energy that made you think twice about getting close.

But with glasses on, he looked different. Softer. Like someone who could stand in a university hallway and lecture on philosophy or economics. Not a CEO, not a business tycoon—more like a professor who turned heads without even trying.

With the glasses on, he looked less like a billionaire and more like the kind of professor students whispered about in the hallway. Maybe one hand was tucked in his pocket while he leaned over papers. Even the way he would stand at the board would make his arms look strong beneath the sleeves, casual yet intense.

The gold rims caught the light, and something skittered in her chest before she could breathe through it.

“Cammie.”

He spoke, his stride long and confident as he came closer.

Camilla had to stop herself from stepping back. She stiffened, fighting to keep her reaction hidden, forcing herself to stay still. Luckily, Lambert stopped a comfortable distance from her, a couple of meters away.

He said her name like it belonged in his mouth—too familiar for two people who barely knew each other. The kind of tone that made it sound like they were close, even though… they really weren’t.

She felt herself tense up, every muscle ready to bolt. Lambert clearly noticed. He quickly said, “Is Catheleen here? I need to talk to her for a moment.”

Camilla’s shoulders dropped. Relief spilled over her face and she managed a small, polite smile. “She’s at home. You can head up.”

Lambert glanced at her, eyebrow raised. “Are you going out?”

“Yeah. I have an errand to run.”

Lambert’s lips twitched, almost into a smile. “That might not work. It’s been a while. I’ve changed a bit—if you want it to fit right, you’ll need to measure me again. I’m afraid you’ll have to measure me again, Cammie.”

Camilla hesitated, uncertainty all over her face.

Taking his measurements herself meant being up close with him. She couldn’t hide her discomfort.

Lambert’s expression softened a little, as if he understood what she was thinking. “No rush. I can wait. Just let me know when you’re ready.”

He was giving her space, giving her time. Maybe he hoped she’d warm up, that she’d eventually be okay.

But Camilla blurted, too fast, “I’m sorry, Mr. White. Forget the suit. I can’t do it.”

Lambert took a moment to process her words. Then he calmly slipped his glasses off, leveling a direct gaze at her. No barriers, no masks. There was nothing left of that gentle, scholarly look. Right then, his presence was raw and powerful, impossible to ignore. It was like the air changed—his calm turning suddenly sharp, impossible to ignore.
