Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 125

No matter how much they tried to convince her, Barbara just wouldn’t change her mind. Instead, she flipped the conversation and started telling Daniel he needed to treat Camilla better and ask for her forgiveness.

Daniel let out a frustrated sigh. “But she’s so set in her decision. She won’t even give me a chance!”

Barbara rolled her eyes, even though he couldn’t see her. “Come on, Daniel. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. You’re quitting before you’ve even started?”

Honestly, this was what annoyed her most about him. For such a grown man, Daniel caved at the slightest pushback. He had no backbone, no courage. Guys like that were such a turn-off.

When the call finally ended, Barbara checked her messages. Lambert had been so busy lately, he barely had time to text, but, rain or shine, he still sent a “good morning” and a “good night” every single day. For a guy like him, successful and busy, that was already impressive.

Barbara was strict about one thing. Don’t be too forward. She believed if a woman chased after a man, she’d lose her value. So she only ever replied to his messages. Never the first to reach out, always putting on this soft, considerate, low-maintenance persona. She wanted him to see her as effortless and mature, not clingy.

Deep down, though, she was convinced. Once they were really together, she’d make sure he couldn’t live without her.

Lost in her thoughts, her phone buzzed again. Lambert. She opened his message. He said he’d planned to fly out and visit her, but there was a sudden situation at work, so now he couldn’t make it.

A pang of disappointment shot through her, but she quickly composed herself. She knew exactly how to play this role—always understanding, never dramatic. This was not the time to catch an attitude.

She typed back: I know you’re busy, I totally get it. I was excited to see you, but your work comes first, always.

Lambert responded almost immediately. I just feel bad for always being this busy. I bought a little present for you. Check for a package at your school, okay?

She’d turned Daniel down tons of times already. Still, Daniel could be kind of reckless with his words. If he said the wrong thing and Lambert got the wrong idea, that would be a problem.

So, once things with Lambert were set in stone, she’d have to change how she treated Daniel. But for now, she kept him as her backup plan. If she couldn’t land someone with better prospects than Daniel, she’d settle for him. But honestly, she had faith in herself. She’d already got Lambert hooked, hadn’t she?

Barbara was already lost in fantasies, imagining how perfect Lambert’s confession would be.

Funny thing was, Lambert was thinking about confessing… but not to her. The person on his mind was Camilla.

That afternoon, Faust stopped by. Once Lambert finished work, Faust stuck around, not taking no for an answer, until he dragged Lambert out for dinner.
