Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 133

Latonia blinked in surprise. “Wait, Lambert, you’re adding more conditions now? Didn’t you already say Cammie could go?”

She was trying to remind him gently. Just a minute ago, she’d thought he was actually pretty good at wooing girls, but now he was suddenly coming up with more rules. Seriously, did he even know how to flirt?

“Just hear me out,” Lambert said.

“Okay, go ahead.” Latonia folded her arms, waiting.

Lambert cleared his throat. “Earlier, Catheleen wanted Cammie to call me Lambert, just like she does. Cammie doesn’t. Honestly, I don’t care what she calls me. I just wish she’d stop being so formal,” Lambert said. “When she calls me ‘sir,’ it makes me sound a lot older than I am.”

Latonia burst out laughing. “He’s got a point, Cammie, you hear that?”

Camilla’s cheeks went a little pink. “I heard. Sorry.”

Lambert looked at her, his eyes gentle but serious. “So, can you agree to that one tiny thing?”

Camilla nodded quickly. “Yes, I promise.”

She hesitated for a second, then added, “I never meant you were old. I was just being respectful, that’s all.”

Lambert shrugged. “I’m not even old... I’m twenty-eight.”

Latonia had to bite her lip to keep from laughing again. “And Cammie, you’re twenty-three, right?”

Camilla mumbled a quiet, “Yeah.”

Latonia teased, “See? Compared to Cammie, you’re practically an old man.”

Lambert looked at her, faking shock. “Come on. Five years is not a lot.”

Latonia grinned. “Please,” Latonia said, grinning. “Five years isn’t exactly a scandal.”

Lambert raised an eyebrow. “Is that true, Cammie? Do you think so too?”

Lambert’s face got even darker at her attempt to explain.

With no bodyguard to hold the door, he opened it himself and quietly stepped out of the car, not saying another word.

Panicking, Camilla hurried after him. “Mr. White…”

Lambert’s fingers moved to button up his coat. He spoke quietly. “It’s fine. I am a few years older than you, that’s true. You only said the facts.”

His voice was so low, and for the first time he actually looked a little sad.

Camilla’s heart clenched. “Really, I didn’t mean it like that. Mr. White, you’ve already achieved so much, and you’re still so young…”

Lambert turned, eyes meeting hers.

Fresh snow from last night still blanketed the world in white. Even though the main roads were cleared, the sidewalks and trees sparkled under thick layers of snow. Lambert stood there in his black cashmere coat, the sunlight behind him making the snow appear even more brilliant, as if he was standing in front of a pair of pure white wings. He looked every bit as noble and handsome as she’d always thought.
