Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 150

After listening to the crowd explain, Adah already knew what had gone down. She jumped in, saying, “Let’s just forgive and move on, Camilla. Since everything’s been cleared up, there’s no need to make this harder for anyone.”

Camilla just gave her a small smile. No matter what happened, Adah always put on her best, gentle act in front of people, never slipping up.

Right now, Camilla only wanted to get out of there, and Adah’s words gave her the perfect excuse. “Okay, I’ll do as you say. But honestly, I’m not feeling too well. I don’t think I can join you all for dinner tonight.”

With her experience, Camilla knew that telling Adah she felt unwell meant Adah wouldn’t push her to come along, not with so many eyes watching. Adah needed to keep up her image as the caring mom, after all.

“If you’re not feeling well, you should really go home and rest,” Adah replied, right on cue. “Go on, hurry.”

Camilla reached for Catheleen, glancing at Lambert for just a second. She didn’t say a word, just took Catheleen’s hand and turned to leave.

Daniel, standing next to Lambert, didn’t dare do much, not with him right there. He was about to say something, maybe try to talk to Lambert, but saw Lambert heading off in the same direction as Camilla instead.

Adah called after him, “Daniel, the traffic was terrible and we’re already late. Get the professors to their meal. Everyone must be starving.”

They’d been stuck on the road for more than half an hour because of an accident.

Once Lambert was gone, Daniel collected himself and hurried the professors into the elevator.

Now, only the Ladd family and a couple of curious onlookers remained.

Maddox held onto Henrietta, his eyes locked on Camilla’s retreating figure until she was gone.

Ladd finally let out a long breath, then looked over at his wife. “Henrietta, we’ve shared so many years together…”

Suddenly, a sharp sound snapped through the air.

Henrietta slapped him hard across the face before he could even finish.

“You actually make me sick,” she said. That was it. She turned away and walked off.

It should’ve been harmless—until Lambert saw Camilla’s tears.

Her head was nestled into Catheleen’s shoulder, her profile turned toward where Lambert stood. He could see clear as day the tears streaming from her bright eyes, glimmering under the neon lights. Her lashes were all wet, collecting the city glow in a way that almost made her look unreal.

Catheleen kept gently patting her, then pulled away to cup Camilla’s face, brushing her tears away with careful fingers.

Seeing all this, Lambert’s chest tightened. His brow creased with worry. He wanted to say something, but before he could get a word out, Catheleen went up on her tiptoes and rested her forehead briefly against Camilla’s, squeezing her hands tight.

“Catheleen.”

Lambert’s voice cut in—cold and precise. “Catheleen.”

Catheleen froze, hands still cupping Camilla’s cheeks. She turned around quickly.

Lambert walked right up to them. “Let me drive you both home.”
