Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 17

Owen couldn't take his eyes off her. Every glance just made her look that much more beautiful. The way her forehead shined with confidence, the delicate lines of her features, that calm between her brows—it all gave her a grace that felt timeless, like one of those beauties from old paintings. But she wasn’t soft in the way you’d expect. When she turned her head, her profile was all sharp edges, bold and unforgettable.

When she was quiet, she seemed untouchable, kind of cold and aloof. But when she smiled, it was like the world finally thawed for spring. Especially those eyes of hers—they sparkled, bright and alive, as if she carried the promise of warm weather and new beginnings.

“Owen!”

Daniel’s voice broke through, and he hurried over.

Owen barely glanced at him. “And you are? And who's the gorgeous woman with you?”

Of course, Daniel didn’t expect Owen to recognize him. He kept it polite, saying, “I’m Daniel. This is my wife, Camilla. Camilla, this is Owen.”

Camilla’s cheeks were starting to hurt from forcing a smile. She never knew how to act in these situations. Words didn't come easy, so mostly she just smiled and let everyone else do the talking.

What made it worse was that, behind closed doors, Daniel would complain about her. Said she was stiff, boring, couldn’t hold a candle to Barbara. Honestly, thinking about it now almost made her want to laugh.

In Owen’s eyes, her smile hit like permission—like the night had finally gotten interesting.

“Camilla? Beautiful name,” Owen said, his gaze lingering with interest. “Think maybe I could buy you a drink?”

“Owen.” She felt uncomfortable under the weight of his stare, and her reply came out cool and distant. “Sure.”

She lowered her glass a notch and clinked it gently against his. She had no interest in staying. If Daniel started up with his complaints again, she’d go out of her mind. She just wanted to finish her part politely, then disappear somewhere she could have a moment alone. She loved the ocean, and it was her first time on a yacht like this. She’d hoped for a moment to enjoy the view, but now, all she wanted was to leave.

Daniel didn’t want to offend Owen, but he didn’t want to just hand Camilla off either. He hesitated, then looked to her for the answer. “Camilla, do you want to go?”

Camilla shook her head without a word.

Seeing her reluctance, Daniel stepped in. “Owen, I’m sorry…”

Owen’s patience snapped. He glared at Daniel, eyes sharp. “Did I ask you? Are you the one I’m talking to?”

He turned back to Camilla, instantly smoothing his voice. “Camilla, just come with me for a little while. I promise I’ll make it worth your time.”
