But before he could speak, Garrison said, "Hey, we had a deal. You took the penalty drink last time, so you have to answer the question now."
With someone breaking the ice, the others immediately started chiming in.
"Yeah! Answer the question!"
"Come on, hurry up!"
Lambert suddenly lifted his gaze, his eyes lingering on Camilla for a split second before shifting to Garrison.
He moved so quickly that almost no one noticed him look at Camilla.
But Camilla felt it.
That single glance seemed to carry a searing heat, making her entire face feel like it was on fire.
Then, he said, "Yes."
The room erupted. Camilla felt as if a bomb had gone off right next to her ear, the shock of it making her body go weak.
Faust had the most mischievous grin. "Now we're getting somewhere! So tell us, who is this person you like? And what kind of... unspeakable things have you done?"
Despite being teased by the crowd, Lambert's expression remained unchanged.
He said, "That’s the next question."
Faust immediately turned to Garrison. "Hurry up! Whether we get any good gossip on Lambert tonight is all up to you guys!"
The bottle continued to spin, but Lambert stood up. "It's getting late. You all have fun. Put everything on my tab tonight."
After speaking, he looked at Catheleen. "Aren't you leaving?"
Catheleen felt a headache coming on. She quickly pulled Camilla. "Let's go, let's go!"
They got into Lambert's car as usual for the ride back.
Lambert was silent the entire way.
Catheleen didn't dare to even breathe too loudly. She knew she was in the wrong and was afraid Lambert would fly off the handle and yell at her.
But even when they arrived downstairs, Lambert hadn't said a word.
Catheleen couldn't stand the silence any longer and spoke up first. "Lambert, I won’t go to bars anymore..."
Lambert asked her, "Were the abs nice to touch?"
Catheleen froze for a second, then became mortified. "I didn't touch anyone's abs..."
She had touched his pecs.
She shook her head forcefully, trying to banish the fragmented yet vivid memory from her mind.
"Cammie, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," Camilla said quickly. "Let's just go back and sleep."
"Oh, right," Catheleen said. "Weren't we talking about treating Lambert to dinner? When are you free? We made him mad tonight, so we should probably try to appease him."
Camilla asked, "How do we do that?"
"Take him to dinner, say some nice things," Catheleen said. "That's probably the best we can do."
"You can decide. I'm free whenever," Camilla replied.
By the time they had both showered and were ready for bed, it was already past four in the morning.
They ended up sleeping until almost noon.
When Camilla woke up, she was still a bit groggy. She opened her eyes, filled with the dazed confusion of not knowing what day it was.
After a moment, she got up to wash her face.
As she looked at her reflection in the mirror, the dream she'd had last night suddenly surfaced in her mind.
