Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 19

Camilla jerked her arm free. “Don’t touch me.”

She figured he wouldn't dare push things too far in front of all these people. Honestly, she thought she'd be safe here.

But she’d seriously underestimated how shameless a man with power and desire could be.

Owen ran his fingers together, almost as if he could still feel the softness of her skin. He smiled, slow and deliberate. “Feisty, aren’t you? I like that even more. Don’t worry, I don’t make anyone do things they don’t want to do. Camilla, right? I’ll see you around.”

He strolled away, leaving Camilla with her heart pounding and finally able to let out a shaky breath.

Daniel hadn’t made it far before Owen found him.

“Owen.” Daniel hurried over, a nervous smile plastered across his face. “My wife, she’s… not used to these kinds of events. If she accidentally offended you, I apologize. For my sake, could you—”

Owen cut him off with a cold laugh. “For your sake? Who do you think you are? Your wife might be clueless, but I hope you’re not just as stupid.”

“Yes, absolutely, I understand,” Daniel stammered.

The night air bit cold, but Daniel was sweating through his shirt. His last name was White, yes, but he was the kind of White who never even got invites to the family mansion at the holidays. There was no way he could afford to piss off someone like Owen.

Owen flicked a key card into Daniel’s hand. “My room. One hour.”

Shock flashed across Daniel’s face.

He'd heard the rumors about Owen, of course—everyone had. He just never thought Owen would be so blatant, so out in the open like this.

“Owen, my wife—” Daniel tried to protest.

Owen’s eyes narrowed. “What, you have a problem?”

He’d clearly run out of patience. For a pretty woman, Owen could manage a half-decent smile. For Daniel, all he had was contempt.

Sweat dripped down Daniel’s temples. He didn’t love Camilla, not really, but he’d never expected Owen would just demand her so directly. Seeing his hesitation, Owen snorted. “I shouldn’t have to remind you what happens to people who cross me.”

Daniel swallowed, fear twisting in his gut. “Owen, my wife and I… we’re only here tonight because Lambert invited us personally…”

He’d heard plenty of stories about Owen. The guy might be a jerk, but he was generous when he was pleased.

Daniel had to admit it—he was tempted. Shamefully, deeply tempted.

But Camilla… she’d never agree to this.

For most men, handing your wife over to another guy would be the definition of humiliation. But the truth was Daniel had never really thought of Camilla as his wife.

The deal Owen was offering hooked him, so much he could barely think straight. His morals didn’t even feel like part of the equation anymore.

He wandered off and eventually found Camilla on the deck, staring out into the endless, rolling sea.

Not long ago, she’d bumped into Lambert again.

This was a man she’d never thought she’d meet in her life. Yet, in just two or three days, she’d crossed paths with him more than once.
