Camilla had blocked his number, and he had no idea where she was living.

He had tried calling her from unknown numbers, but she never picked up.

He had no other choice. It was New Year's Day, and when he went home, he thought of using Jackson's phone to contact her.

Before making the call, Jackson saw his son's furious expression and frowned. "Whatever you have to say, say it nicely! Since Camilla didn't cheat, this is mostly your fault. Apologize to her properly, you hear me?"

Previously, they had all spoken harshly, assuming Camilla had been unfaithful.

Daniel managed a smile. "Dad, I'll handle it. Don't worry."

He took the phone, and as soon as the call connected, he said, "Camilla, I got in touch with Owen."

Camilla froze.

Before she could say anything, Daniel's angry voice erupted, "He never touched you! Nothing happened between you two at all! Camilla, was it fun messing with me?"

Camilla finally understood what he was getting at.

She asked, "Daniel, did you think I wanted to divorce you because I was assaulted by Owen?"

"Wasn't that it? You felt humiliated, felt like I let you down, so you wanted a divorce!"

Camilla was so exasperated she could have laughed.

Daniel said, "I'm not good enough for Barbara."

This was another one of Barbara's brilliant moves.

She was always subtly manipulating the people around her.

Even someone like Daniel, who was considered a talented and successful young man by others, felt inferior in her presence.

It was a testament to how formidable Barbara was.

Camilla said, "Well, do you know she has a boyfriend?"

Daniel was stunned. "What did you say?"

"I said, Barbara has a boyfriend," Camilla repeated. "I think if you divorce me and go after her, you two might have a chance. But if you're her brother-in-law, once she gets married, it's over for you two. There will be no hope at all."

Camilla was telling the truth.
