Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 192

She hadn't wanted to bring it up, but the fact that Barbara had a boyfriend would definitely affect Daniel.

She was hoping to use this to finally get a smooth divorce.

"She really has a boyfriend?" Daniel's tone was still skeptical. "You're not lying to me, are you? Why didn't she tell me?"

"As for why she didn't tell you... I imagine it's because she's afraid you'll harass her," Camilla said. "Don't you want to at least try? What if your sincerity wins her over?"

Daniel said, "Don't think a few words from you will make me do what you want. I'll figure this out on my own!"

Daniel hung up after saying his piece.

But he felt a deep sense of unease.

Did Barbara have a boyfriend?

Impossible!

She had mentioned before that several men were pursuing her, but she hadn't accepted any of them.

Camilla must have said that deliberately to throw him off balance.

Yes, that had to be it!

But as Camilla had pointed out, if Barbara started dating and got married while he was merely her brother-in-law, they would truly have no chance.

The more Daniel thought about it, the more anxious he became.

Although he hadn't shown it in front of Camilla, he knew that everything she said was true.

He immediately called Barbara.

Barbara answered, her voice gentle. "Daniel, Happy New Year!"

"Barbie," Daniel said, "I got the New Year's gift you sent me. I love it, thank you."

Barbara said, "It's nothing expensive, just a small token of my affection."

She still needed to keep Daniel on the hook, to get him to drag his feet on the divorce with Camilla.

Even if they did divorce, it had to wait until things were settled between her and Lambert.

"Your affection is the most precious thing to me," Daniel said, then cut to the chase. "Barbie, are you... seeing someone?"

"Alright!" Barbara said. "I don't have a break over here, I still have classes. I have to go."

Daniel quickly added, "Barbie, I had a gift sent for you. It should arrive tonight. I hope you like it."

His gifts were always expensive, and Barbara needed them to keep up appearances.

She said, "Why are you buying me gifts again? You know I don't care about those things."

Daniel insisted, "I want to give it to you. Barbie, please accept it, as a favor to me for picking it out so carefully."

Barbara said, "Alright, but this is the last time, you hear?"

After hanging up, Daniel was in a great mood.

But he still cursed Camilla a few times under his breath.

How dare she lie to him? It was outrageous!

Camilla had no idea that Barbara had so easily placated Daniel with just a few words.

She slept for half the day in her dorm room. When she woke up, she saw several missed calls on her phone.
