Outside the bar, Faust said, “It’s getting late. Why don’t we all grab a bite to eat?”
After speaking, he winked at Lambert. He was clearly trying to create an opportunity for Lambert to get closer to Camilla.
Catheleen had no objections. She looked at Camilla. “Cammie, is that okay?”
Camilla desperately wanted to say no, but with everyone’s eyes on her, she found it hard to refuse.
“I’m fine with whatever,” she said.
Catheleen then turned to Paulina. “What about you, Paulina?”
Paulina smiled. “Then this meal’s on me, to thank you all for being so concerned about me.”
Faust interjected, “You’re the hero here. If it weren’t for you, Camilla would have been bullied. How can we let you pay? Right, Lambert?”
Lambert glanced at Camilla before finally speaking. “I’ll pay.”
“Alright!” Catheleen declared. “Stop arguing. We’ll let Lambert pay. He’s loaded, anyway.”
Faust took them to a nearby restaurant he frequented, a place impeccable in both its class and its cuisine.
When they arrived, Camilla waited until Lambert and Faust had entered the private room before pulling Catheleen aside.
“What’s wrong?” Catheleen asked, puzzled.
“Catheleen, there’s something…” Camilla began.
Seeing her hesitate, Catheleen grew more curious. “What is it? Just say it. You don’t have to be so polite with me.”
“Can I move back in with you?”
Catheleen burst out laughing.
Camilla froze. “What are you laughing at?”
“Lambert already told me,” Catheleen said, draping an arm around her shoulder. “I was just about to tell you! After dinner, I’ll go help you pack your things!”
“He told you?” Camilla felt a pang of guilt. “What did he tell you?”
