Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 200

“Wasting time on him is a waste of your life.”

Lambert’s tone had become more serious.

Camilla couldn’t help but glance at him.

The car was dim, but Lambert’s eyes were bright, as if stars had fallen into them. They held a power that could steady a person’s heart, yet they also burned with the heat of molten lava, a gaze hot enough to melt her on the spot.

Camilla quickly looked away.

Lambert frowned. “Avoiding me again?”

Camilla didn’t know how to explain her feelings to him. That she’d been burned by his gaze? How could she say something like that out loud? Who would even believe her?

But that was genuinely how she felt. Maybe she could ask Catheleen someday if Lambert’s gaze ever felt scorching to her.

“No, of course not…” she said quickly.

“Yes, you are.”

Camilla’s head snapped back toward him.

His eyes were lowered, and she noticed his eyelashes were surprisingly thick. His tone just now had held a hint of hurt, a touch of disappointment.

But how could that be possible? What did Lambert have to be disappointed about?

Camilla’s fingertips twitched, her fingers slowly curling into a fist.

“I won’t,” she said. “Since I promised, I won’t avoid you. As for the divorce, I have no choice but to wait him out. He probably can’t afford to wait forever. He’s the only son, he needs to carry on the family line…”

Camilla trailed off. In truth, she had no confidence at all about the divorce. Talking about carrying on the family line… if Daniel really wanted to drag this out, he could just have a child with another woman. Under the law now, children born out of wedlock still have inheritance rights.

Besides, she didn’t care about any of that. So if this dragged on, the only one trapped in the marriage would be her. For Daniel, that marriage certificate was no real constraint.
