Faust stood up instantly. "It's barely late. You've been drinking on an empty stomach all night. You're going to wreck your stomach."

Jeanette quickly chimed in. "A friend of mine just opened a new restaurant nearby, the food is incredible. Want to go check it out?"

Lambert was already shrugging into his overcoat. "Go ahead," he said coldly, turning on his heel and striding out the door.

Jeanette didn't dare follow him. His icy demeanor and the sheer, intimidating aura radiating off him were far more overwhelming than usual.

Faust quickly chased after him.

Once the men were gone, Jeanette turned to Garrison. "What's wrong with him?"

Garrison forced a laugh. "Faust and I were trying to figure that out before you guys showed up. We got absolutely nothing out of him."

Garrison wasn't stupid—he knew Jeanette had her sights set on Lambert. There was no way in hell he was going to leak a single detail about Camilla. That was basic bro-code.

His fiancée chimed in, "Do you know anything about that Camilla Green girl? Is she still pestering Mr. White?"

Garrison feigned confusion. "Pestering? What are you talking about?"

"You seriously don't know?" Jeanette scoffed. "I heard she caused a huge scene at a bar and actually made Lambert show up to bail her out."

"That's not how it happened..." Garrison stopped himself. "Look, whatever it is, it's Lambert's business. We shouldn't be gossiping about it."

Garrison didn't want to say too much. Nobody knew where Lambert's head was at. While Lambert had the power to choose his own wife, strategic marriages were still the norm in their world. Maximize profits and all that. Who would say no to billions of dollars?
