"Yes, please!"
Neither of them were exactly master chefs. Boiling some pasta or heating up some frozen meals was about the extent of their culinary skills.
As they bustled around the kitchen together, Catheleen was still ranting. "I've officially decided that all men are unreliable. Even my own brother is no exception!"
She had resigned herself to the fact that Lambert and Camilla were never going to happen. Camilla had made it crystal clear that she wanted nothing to do with him. Since it was a lost cause, Catheleen figured she didn't need to hold back her opinions anymore. Plus, she genuinely despised Jeanette.
"There are at least a half-dozen elite families he could align with. He doesn't have to pick the Clark family!" Catheleen scoffed. "She's not the only socialite in Cabinda!"
Camilla offered a faint smile. "Maybe the Clark family is the most strategic fit. You really shouldn't worry so much about your brother's business."
"I'm just venting. It's not like he listens to me anyway." Catheleen sighed, a wave of disappointment washing over her. "Ugh, Cammie. I really wish you were the one with my brother."
"Catheleen, please don't say things like that anymore," Camilla said, her tone turning serious. "There is absolutely nothing between him and me. If someone overhears you, it'll cause unnecessary misunderstandings."
"Okay, okay, I won't say it again." Catheleen nodded vigorously. "Don't be mad, Cammie. I just think you're amazing, and my brother is amazing, and you two would be perfect together."
"How could that ever happen?" Camilla shook her head with a bittersweet laugh. "In what universe are we a match?"
"You totally are! Personality, looks, talent..." Catheleen started ticking them off on her fingers. "You match perfectly!"
"Then why didn't you mention family background, wealth, status, and education?" Camilla countered. She didn't even know exactly what degrees Lambert held, but Catheleen had mentioned he was an academic genius.
