Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 24

She bit down on her lower lip, desperate to stay present.

Owen’s big hands moved over her, tracing every curve like he was committing her shape to memory. Camilla tried to push him away, but her body wouldn’t listen. She was losing even the strength to keep her lip between her teeth.

Darkness pressed in, suffocating and heavy. No, she thought, no, please...

Owen couldn’t hold back. He grabbed at her clothes, pulling at the fabric, impatient with the slow burn of teasing. The fabric ripped with a sharp sound, the noise splitting the air.

Then, out of nowhere, a loud crash exploded through the room.

Owen jerked, startled, the frustration on his face turning to rage. “Who the hell dares to ruin—” His shout cut off as a hand clamped around the back of his neck. In a blink he was hauled off the bed and sent crashing into the wall. He slammed hard into the wall, then hit the floor.

Pain shot through him, leaving him dizzy and seeing stars. He opened his mouth, ready to curse, but the sight in front of him stole any words he had. A tall figure loomed over him, and as soon as Owen realized who it was, his breath caught in his throat.

Lambert’s expression was as cold as midnight, his eyes glinting with danger. He grabbed the nearest blanket and covered Camilla without hesitation.

Faust rushed in behind him, eyes wide, barely believing what he was seeing. Just a minute ago, Faust had trailed Lambert into the security room. When the monitors showed Daniel helping Camilla into Owen’s room—but then leaving alone—Lambert was out the door in a flash. He’d kicked that door in like it was nothing.

In all the years he’d known him, Faust had never seen Lambert look this way. Urgent, furious, and something else—panic. The anger made sense. The panic? That was new.

After hurling Owen at the wall and covering Camilla, Lambert paused. He shot a quick look at her, and something in his eyes gave Faust all the answers he needed.

He got it now.

“I’ll get Galen,” Faust said quickly, dragging Owen out. He made sure to pull the door closed behind them.

Faust was still reeling, his mind racing as he looked down at Owen slumped on the floor. He shook his head. When someone like Lambert lost control, it wasn’t just scary. It was a disaster. Owen was done for.

Inside the room, Camilla finally pushed off the blanket. Her face was flushed a deep, unnatural red, every inch of visible skin tinged pink—an irresistible sight.

Lambert swallowed hard, his eyes lingering just a second too long before he reached over, trying again to wrap her up.

But through the haze clouding her mind, Camilla caught a familiar scent—crisp, cool, and clear, like pine high in the mountains after a snowfall. It calmed her, drew her in.

Unlike before, her reaction changed. She leaned into it, reaching for him with delicate arms, her fingers curling around his wrist, holding on like she never wanted to let go.
