Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 25

Lambert had never felt so thrown off in his entire life.

This was the first time a woman had ever gotten this close to him, let alone touched him like this. Her fingers were long and so pale, gripping his wrist with a desperation that sent heat searing through his shirt and right into his skin.

His throat worked, trying to swallow the tension. He set his hand over her delicate fingers, hesitating for a heartbeat before gently prying her off, careful not to hurt her. He didn’t want to be rough, but that only gave her an opening to move even closer.

Camilla was burning up, visibly unwell, but anywhere she touched him seemed to turn cool, almost comfortable. Her mind was a mess, completely clouded, not a trace of reason left. All she had to go on was that animal need driving her closer. For her, Lambert’s coolness felt like salvation. She wrapped herself around him, a soft, relieved sound spilling from her lips.

But it wasn’t enough. Not for her. The fever inside her raged on, her mouth dry, her body aching with a strange new hunger she didn’t understand. She acted purely on instinct, every move needy and raw.

Lambert had to use every ounce of control he had to pull her off him. His hair was a wreck, his shirt hopelessly rumpled. He felt like he was about to combust.

Reeling, breathing hard, Lambert grabbed a blanket and tucked it over her before covering her with his own body, using his weight and strength just to hold her in place. Finally, she stilled for a second, unable to wriggle free. Even then, her hips twisted and a tiny, embarrassing moan escaped her throat, both intoxicating and innocent.

Lambert was losing it. His body was tight with need and frustration, caught in agony because he couldn’t do a thing about it. Everything about this was already too much, but then she started making those little noises that felt like a test of his last shred of patience. Every sound was like gasoline on a fire.

Cold water poured from the showerhead, but Camilla barely noticed. Before the chill could even make her shiver, she had wrapped herself around him again, this time facing him, pulling herself so close that her legs threatened to hook around his hips.

The difference in their strength was obvious, especially with all the training Lambert had behind him. Holding her still was child’s play.

Without any more hesitation, Lambert aimed the shower at her, ready to cool her down as quickly as possible.
