"Keep yelling, and the whole city will know," Lambert said coldly.

That snapped Catheleen's mouth shut, though she still hissed through her teeth, "You can't do this to her!"

"What exactly do you think I can accomplish in the back of a car?" Lambert asked dryly.

"There are plenty of things you can do in a car!" Catheleen shot back, before clapping her hands over her mouth in absolute horror.

She couldn't believe she just said that to her strict, terrifying cousin. She was way too used to talking trash with her internet friends. She was dead.

Lambert's face darkened thunderously. "You certainly seem to know a lot."

"I don't! I don't!" she stammered, desperate to change the subject. "It's late! We need to go home!"

Without waiting to see if he was going to murder her, she leaned in and shouted, "Cammie!"

Camilla was floating in a blissful, hazy limbo. Hearing her name, she forced her heavy eyelids half-open. "Hmm? Cath... Catheleen?"

"I'm right here." Catheleen reached in and grabbed her arm.

Camilla finally focused on her friend and broke into a massive, dopey grin. "Catheleen!"

Even though Lambert knew they were completely platonic best friends, seeing Camilla beam at someone else made a flare of irrational jealousy burn in his chest.

She had never smiled at him like that!

Worse, the second Camilla saw Catheleen, she immediately reached for her, completely forgetting the man who had just kissed her into oblivion.

Lambert wanted nothing more than to drag her back inside, but he couldn't exactly hold her hostage in front of an audience.

Catheleen practically hauled Camilla out of the SUV. Camilla's legs instantly gave out, and she nearly hit the pavement if Catheleen hadn't braced her against the door frame.

Terrified that Lambert was going to give in to his primal urges and drag Camilla back into the car for a round two, Catheleen babbled, "Okay, bye Lambert, drive safe, see you!"

And slammed the door shut.
