Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 261

The pain was so blinding that Camilla could no longer hear anything around her. It felt as though a serrated blade were ruthlessly twisting in her gut. How could it hurt this much?

Lambert arrived in record time. His trailing bodyguards had never seen him in such a state of frantic urgency. Catheleen had already called for an ambulance, but the moment Lambert charged upstairs, he scooped Camilla up in his arms and carried her straight down to meet the paramedics.

His corporate headquarters was miles away from this hospital, yet he had managed to arrive ten minutes faster than the ambulance. Only later did Catheleen learn that Lambert had driven himself, tearing through the city streets like a madman. A motorcycle cop had trailed him the entire way, but Lambert’s team would effortlessly handle the fallout—paying the fines, dealing with the impoundments, whatever it took.

Lambert personally carried Camilla into the ambulance. Upon reaching the ER, a rapid assessment and physical exam quickly confirmed the diagnosis: acute appendicitis. After a few more scans verified the condition, she was immediately rushed into laparoscopic surgery.

By the time Camilla was wheeled out of the operating room, it was past eight in the evening. Lambert had stood vigil outside the doors the entire time. Only after he watched her get settled did he finally turn to Catheleen. "You should head home."

"No!" Catheleen's eyes were red and swollen from crying. "It’s all my fault. I let Cammie eat ice cream, and then we had hot pot..."

The doctor had explained that consuming excessively cold and spicy foods back-to-back could severely disrupt intestinal function, triggering the acute appendicitis. Catheleen was drowning in guilt. She had been the one to start eating ice cream, and she had suggested the hot pot. But what was done was done, and throwing blame around now wouldn't fix anything.

Lambert didn't reprimand her. He simply said, "Be good. Go home and get some rest."

Catheleen sniffled, looking entirely taken aback. "I can't believe you're not yelling at me. You're actually using a gentle voice..."

Lambert shot her a flat look, clearly lacking the patience to entertain her.

Catheleen dropped her head. "When Cammie collapsed, I shouldn't have called you."

"Who else were you going to call?"
