Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 263

Panic flared in Camilla's chest. "What are you doing? Let go of me!"

He had been warming her for quite a while, and her feet were now comfortably warm. He could easily let her go or swap in the hot water bottle. But remembering her brazen claim that she "didn't remember" anything that happened in the car last night fueled a simmering irritation inside him.

Fine. She couldn't remember? Then he would make sure she was wide awake to witness exactly what he was doing right now. Let's see her try to deny this.

"What does it look like I'm doing?" Lambert held her gaze, his dark eyes unreadable. "Are you seeing clearly this time?"

Camilla was flushed with a mixture of intense shame and embarrassment. To have a man clutch her bare feet against his bare skin was an incredibly intimate act, crossing a line into deeply personal territory normally reserved for lovers. A casual hand-hold was one thing, but sitting around warming someone’s feet? That required a foundation of serious romantic intimacy. And Lambert hadn't just touched them—he had tucked them directly against his warm torso.

Her face burned crimson. She bit her lower lip, her eyes welling up with frantic tears. "What exactly are you trying to do?"

"Nothing," Lambert replied, his tone chillingly detached but threaded with a subtle edge. "The doctor said you needed your feet warmed to improve circulation. So, I did it."

"Is that what the doctor actually meant?" Camilla didn't believe him for a second. "Weren't there any other ways to warm them up?"

"So what you're saying is, I help you warm up, and now you're blaming me for it?"

Camilla instantly lost her voice. Lambert had rushed her to the hospital, carried her to the ambulance, and evidently waited through her entire surgery to watch over her. She should be overflowing with gratitude. But still...

She lowered her gaze. "I really am grateful to you, but there are boundaries between men and women. How could you..."

"Last night in my car, when you were hugging me, touching me, and kissing me, why didn't you care about those boundaries then?" he interrupted smoothly. "Now you want to lecture me about propriety? Is this a double standard? Or is it that only you are allowed to do whatever you want to me, while I'm forbidden from doing anything?"

Camilla wanted the floor to swallow her whole. Her face was scorching hot, and the humiliation was unbearable. When she finally spoke, all her bravado was gone.
