Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 268

"Mr. White, whatever you say..." Camilla forced the words past her trembling lips. "Fine. Do as you please. You have money and power, you can get away with whatever you want."

"I don't believe a single word coming out of your mouth." Lambert’s predatory gaze pinned her to the pillow. "Unless you tell me the name of the man you claim to love. If this phantom actually exists, once your divorce is finalized, I will personally ensure the two of you end up together!"

Hearing the ruthless edge in his voice, Camilla realized she had backed herself into a corner overlooking a cliff. But one lie always requires another to keep it alive.

"That’s impossible," she whispered. "Because... he's much older than me. He’s already married with a family, and he lives overseas. I just love him from afar. I never planned to actually be with him."

For a split second, Lambert couldn't decipher whether it was the truth or a masterful fabrication. But the sheer disappointment and hollow ache that hit him shattered his usually iron-clad control.

"You had better not be lying to me, Camilla."

"Like I said, I'm just an ordinary person. I have no power to fight someone like you. Whatever you want to do to me, I have no choice but to take it. But who I love—that will never change!"

In that moment, Lambert genuinely wished he was the cold, ruthless bastard she made him out to be. He wished he could just take her, dominate her, and completely ignore her feelings.

But he couldn't.

"All you care about is my body," Camilla said, her eyelashes fluttering as tears threatened to fall. "If you promise to let me go afterward, then once I'm discharged... I'll do whatever you want."

"Whatever I want. Perfect." Lambert straightened up, standing tall beside the bed. "You win, Camilla."

The familiar, clean scent of him vanished as he stepped back. Then came the steady, rhythmic sound of his footsteps, growing fainter as he walked away.

Her vision blurred. Hot tears spilled over her lashes, soaking into the pristine white pillowcase.

"What are you crying for?"

The voice appeared out of nowhere, right beside her ear.

Camilla jumped, her eyes snapping open. Lambert was back, standing right beside the bed. She stared up at him with wide, innocent eyes, the tears still fresh on her cheeks, completely caught off guard.

Panic spiked in her chest. "Mr. White..."

"They were too dry," Lambert remarked casually. "It makes kissing uncomfortable."

Her face flushed with furious heat. "Lambert!"

He finally met her gaze. "Didn't you say I could do whatever I wanted? I'm not taking advantage of you. I'm merely returning every single thing you've done to me."

Everything she had done to him?

There was the incident on the yacht, not to mention her hands wandering all over his abs. And then last night in the car...

The memory made Camilla want to curl up and die. He was going to return *all* of it?

"Kissing, hugging, wandering hands..." Lambert murmured softly. "Once you're healed, we're going to go through the list, one by one."
