Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 280

There was absolutely no way he was leaving.

He shot Catheleen a sharp, silencing glare. With Camilla right there, he couldn't blatantly call her an idiot, but his icy expression communicated the message perfectly.

Catheleen didn't dare push her luck.

She had seen Camilla and confirmed she was okay, so her mind was at ease.

She turned to her best friend. "Well, Cammie, I'll head back for now. Call me if you need anything!"

Camilla didn't want her to leave, but with Lambert standing there like a menacing guard dog, she didn't dare ask her to stay.

Lambert cut in smoothly, "I'm right here. She'll be perfectly fine."

Watching Catheleen practically flee the room, Camilla stared longingly at the closed door.

Lambert extended a hand toward her. "Want to get out of bed and walk a bit?"

Camilla didn't want to move.

It wasn't that she was ignoring medical advice.

It was just that walking meant Lambert would be right beside her, supporting her weight, guaranteeing intense physical contact.

It felt slightly ridiculous to be so hesitant when he had literally held her bare feet against his stomach earlier.

But she still desperately wanted to keep her distance right now.

Even though the caregiver had given her a sponge bath, she hadn't washed her hair or taken a proper shower. She had just undergone surgery and felt absolutely gross.

The contrast between her current state and Lambert—standing there looking immaculate, smelling like expensive cologne and power—was too much to bear.

"What's wrong? Pain?"

Lambert leaned over, bracing both hands on the edge of the mattress to look her in the eye.

Camilla shrank back, terrified he would catch a whiff of the sterile hospital scent clinging to her.

"No," she lied quickly. "I just... I want the caregiver to walk with me."

Lambert actually laughed. "You think the caregiver can do a better job than I can? You haven't even given me a chance, so how do you know I won't meet your standards?"

A private joke crossed his mind, and he chuckled again.

Trapped in his magnetic orbit, Camilla's heart went into overdrive.

She couldn't look at him, turning her face toward the wall. "Why are you making it sound like I'm completely helpless? I can walk by myself."

"Then what are you afraid of?" Lambert countered effortlessly. "Get up."
