Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 281

She turned her head to speak to him, but the sudden movement pulled sharply at her wound, sending a jolt of pain through her side.

Lambert White closed the distance in a flash, his strong arm wrapping securely around her waist. "What's wrong?"

"It hurts."

Without a second of hesitation, Lambert scooped her up into his arms.

He moved quickly but with immense care, ensuring nothing brushed against her stitches.

Striding over to the bed, he leaned down and gently lowered her onto the mattress.

As he set her down, their faces were mere inches apart.

Camilla Green held her breath.

But Lambert's entire focus was on her injury.

Once she was settled, he immediately pressed the call button.

Camilla caught her breath, already feeling the sharp sting fade. "I'm fine. I think I just moved the wrong way."

"Let the doctor take a look."

Lambert reached out, capturing her hand in his. "You're freezing. Are your feet this cold, too?"

Camilla quickly shook her head. "No, I'm not cold."

Lambert didn't believe her for a second. He walked straight to the foot of the bed and reached under the covers to check.

Camilla instinctively tried to pull back.

Lambert shot her a warning look. "Don't move."

A second later, his large, warm hand engulfed her bare foot.

When the doctor walked in, he stopped dead in his tracks at the sight.

Lambert was sitting at the foot of the bed, casually warming his patient's feet with his own body heat.

The doctor chuckled. "Isn't that taking it a bit far? Doesn't she have a hot water bottle?"

"My temperature is better," Lambert replied evenly.

"Fair point," the doctor said, stepping up to examine Camilla. "A hot water bottle does come with a risk of burns."

After a quick check, he confirmed everything was fine and simply reminded her to take it easy when getting out of bed. He encouraged her to move around slightly to help her digestion and speed up the healing process.

Once the doctor left the room, Lambert raised an eyebrow. "See? Even the doctor agrees my method is safe and effective."

Camilla was entirely speechless.

She thought he would let go of her feet the second the doctor walked in.

Instead, he just sat there, completely unbothered by what anyone thought.

If anyone else had done this, it might have been normal.

But a man of his status, of his wealth, lowering himself to care for her so intimately—it was overwhelming.
