Without realizing it, she had slowly started accepting his presence. She had even unconsciously begun acting spoiled and throwing minor tantrums around him.
Lambert loved every second of it.
This was exactly the result he had been working so hard to achieve.
Maybe she was only letting him get close because she was sick and vulnerable.
But it was a perfect start.
While they were bickering, Camilla's phone buzzed.
Lambert glanced at the screen before handing it to her.
It was an unknown number. Camilla considered ignoring it, but deciding she would rather deal with a stranger than look at Lambert, she answered.
The second the line connected, Daniel White's voice blasted through the speaker.
"Camilla, I agree to the divorce."
Camilla blinked in surprise, wondering what had caused this sudden change of heart. "You agree?"
"You're really something," Daniel sneered, his voice dripping with venom. "I was wondering why you were in such a rush to leave me. Turns out you've bagged a powerful figure. Look at you go!"
Camilla instinctively shot a glance at Lambert.
If she were completely innocent, she could have righteously screamed back at Daniel.
But now, she felt a heavy wave of guilt.
It wasn't like she had actually slept with Lambert.
But... she had fallen for him.
Even if her feelings blossomed while she was separated and finalizing a divorce, it was still something she struggled to accept about herself.
That was why she had fought so hard to push Lambert away.
Because she knew she was completely powerless against a man like him.
She had no idea where Daniel had gotten his information. The divorce was a relief, of course.
But... his accusations made the beginning and end of their marriage feel like an absolute joke.
Camilla forced her voice steady. "If you agree to the divorce, I'll drop the lawsuit."
"You constantly lectured me about emotional cheating and morals, but what about you? You're just a vain, shameless gold digger! And that guy is no saint either. He knew you were married and still had the nerve to—"
