As Faust walked out of Lambert’s office, he spotted the same guy he’d seen last time.
He called over, “Aaron.”
Aaron quickly put down his phone and hurried over. “Faust.”
“It’s late. Why are you still here?” Faust teased. “Doesn’t your girlfriend care that you’re always working overtime?”
Faust had nothing else to do and couldn’t resist poking his nose into other people’s business.
Aaron looked a bit embarrassed. “I don’t have a girlfriend yet.”
Faust grinned. “No wonder you practically live at the office.”
Aaron tried to smile. “But maybe that’ll change soon.”
“Oh? What’s that about?” Faust perked up, clearly in the mood for gossip. “Are you finally about to get a girlfriend?”
“There’s someone I like. I just haven’t figured out how to tell her yet.”
Faust’s tone turned urgent. “If you like her, just go for it. Don’t wait around and end up watching her marry someone else. You’ll regret it.”
Even someone like Lambert got caught up in this kind of stuff.
Aaron gave a determined nod. “I know. Thank you, Faust. I’ll give it my best.”
Faust clapped him on the shoulder. “Go get her.”
As Aaron hesitated, he spoke up, “Faust, actually, I wanted to ask you a favor.”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“Well, the girl I like is studying overseas. I want to fly out while I still have the chance, actually confess to her face-to-face... but our team leader makes it hard to get leave.”
The team leader in the secretarial department was almost forty. She was all business—a total workaholic and not someone you wanted to cross.
“Leave, huh?” Faust laughed. “Relax, I’ll talk to her for you. If I have to, I’ll even go straight to Lambert. He’s not heartless. This matters to you. He’ll say yes.”
“Thank you so much, Faust.”
Feeling pleased with himself, Faust headed out in a good mood.

Camilla, meanwhile, barely slept a minute all night.
Her thoughts kept spinning out of control.
What had happened to her physically hurt, but the pain went deeper than that. She felt sad and humiliated in a way she couldn’t even put into words.
The more she read, the more hopeless she felt.
You’re supposed to go to the police right away, save any evidence, and let them handle it.
But in her mind, she had nothing—no bruises, no proof, and she’d already showered.
And she had no witnesses... Or did she? Daniel.
If she could just get Daniel to back her up as a witness, maybe she’d have a fighting chance.
She checked the time, fighting the urge to call Daniel in the middle of the night.
First thing the next morning, she dialed his number.
Daniel picked up right away. “I think we shouldn’t rush into divorce,” he said, his voice oddly calm. “Let’s meet up and really talk it through.”
He’d been turning it over in his mind all night.
Barbara’s advice left him torn.
A divorce could hurt his company’s image. And what if Lambert found out? Would he see Daniel as someone who couldn’t even keep his family together?
Not to mention, he still hadn’t secured what he wanted from Owen.
