Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 87

“Barbie,” Adah said right away, her voice gentle. “Sweetheart, how have you been sleeping lately? Are you remembering to eat properly?”

“I’m fine, Mom.” Barbara’s voice was steady, but this wasn’t a casual call. “I wanted to talk to you both about Camilla’s divorce.”

Adah sighed, the worry coming through. “We really can’t do anything. She’s made up her mind, and honestly, Daniel did go too far this time.”

“Daniel had no choice. He was under a lot of pressure, and things just got out of hand. Mom, Dad, is there any way you can help stop the divorce?”

“It’s not like we want her to go through with it,” Adah replied, sounding helpless. “But she’s stubborn, like she swallowed a brick. Nothing anyone says gets through to her. Even your father threatened to cut ties, and she just stood there like it meant nothing.”

“She just didn’t care? Even when Dad said he’d disown her?”

Adah let out a huff. “She’s just ungrateful. We really didn’t expect her to be like this.”

Now Barbara was starting to worry. “So what do we do? We’ve known Daniel and his family for ages. Once a woman is divorced, it’s hard to find someone decent. She’s probably not going to do better.”

Adah agreed right away. “Exactly. It’s not like we haven’t tried to talk sense into her, but she just ignores us.”

Then Lean, their father, cut in. “If she’s determined to go through with this, let’s just be done with her. I won’t have a daughter who brings shame on this family.”

“Dad, come on. We’re all just trying to see if there’s another way,” Barbara said, trying to keep things calm. “If they can stay together, that’s best for everyone.”

“She’s changed, Barbie. She just doesn’t listen to us anymore, no matter what we say.”

Barbara fell silent, her mind spinning. If even her parents couldn’t change Camilla’s mind, and threats didn’t work, what else could she do? The divorce papers were supposed to be signed that afternoon. If she didn’t act, was she really going to just stand by and watch it all happen?

“Alright, Barbie, don’t be mad. I won’t say it again.”

“From now on, you’re just my brother-in-law. I just want to see you two happy. Why can’t you see I’m only trying to help?”

“I get it,” Daniel quickly said. “I’ll do my best to win her back. Trust me, I won’t let us get divorced.”

Meanwhile, at the clinic, Camilla finally finished her IV and felt lighter, like a weight had lifted from her shoulders. Maybe it was just knowing that Daniel had agreed to the divorce, and now things were finally moving forward.

She grabbed lunch with Catheleen and Latonia. Halfway through the meal, Catheleen’s boss called her back to work, so she had to rush off. By the time Camilla was done with her IV, it was already after one. After eating, it seemed like perfect timing to go handle the paperwork.

Latonia drove her to the Register Office. They hadn’t even parked before they saw Daniel waiting by the entrance. He was dressed in a crisp suit, obviously trying his best to look good—almost like he was walking into a big event. But what really caught Camilla’s eye was the bright bouquet of roses he was holding. The flowers stood out, vibrant and impossible to miss in his arms.
