Daniel was still kneeling, his voice full of desperation. “Say whatever you want to me. I deserve it. I really get it this time. Just please, give me one more chance. Just one. Watch how I act from now on, and if you still want a divorce, I’ll agree. Just give me this.”
“Alright, fine. I’ll give you a chance.”
“Camilla!” Latonia was practically fuming. “Are you serious right now?”
Daniel’s whole face brightened. “Really, Camilla? I knew you still cared. I knew it.”
Camilla shot Latonia a gentle, calming look. Then she faced Daniel again. “Well, I’m not satisfied. Should we call the lawyer now?”
Only then did Latonia let out a breath in relief.
Daniel stared at her, his expression suddenly tense. “You’re joking, right? You’re just messing with me, aren’t you?”
Camilla’s voice was quiet but steady. “I spent three years convincing myself that loving you would lead somewhere, that there would be an answer. Now, that answer is right in front of me. If this was three years ago and I still cared, maybe I would have given in, maybe I would have given you another chance. But you’ve used up all the love I had for you. Do you get what I’m saying?”
Daniel shook his head, his eyes pleading. “I get it, but you can’t just cut me off over one thing… Camilla…”
“That’s enough.” Camilla didn’t even let him finish. “You had countless chances in the past three years. I waited. I kept believing in you. What did you do with that trust? Now, I’m done waiting and done hoping, and suddenly you say it’s my fault for not giving you another shot?”
He tried to catch her eyes, his voice shaky. “Camilla, people say you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone. That’s how it is for me. Now that you want a divorce, I finally see how much I care about you.”
Camilla let out a soft laugh. “Oh? So what, you don’t like Barbara anymore?”
He responded immediately. “She’s your sister. I’ve only ever seen her as a friend, as family.”
Latonia glanced at Camilla, her voice tight. “Camilla, don’t fall for this pity act. He’s just trying to play you again.”
Camilla kept her tone ice-cold. “Divorce me. As long as you sign, I’ll keep everything else to myself.”
Daniel stayed exactly where he was, not budging an inch. “I’m not standing up unless you give me what I want. I don’t kneel,” he said, voice tight. “I’m doing it anyway—doesn’t that prove I mean it?”
“You…” Camilla was so angry she couldn’t even form words.
She honestly just couldn’t believe how shameless he could be.
Latonia was left standing there, out of ideas, just watching the ridiculous scene unfold.
