Divorce Him, Then Dazzle novel Chapter 97

Camilla felt her cheeks burning as she reached over to cover Catheleen’s mouth again.

Camilla squeezed her eyes shut, praying Catheleen would stop talking.

Lambert let out a slow, deep breath. “Stop the car.”

The driver wasted no time and pulled over to the curb.

Lambert stepped out, walked to the back, yanked open the door, and pulled Catheleen out without an ounce of gentleness. He moved her into the front seat without a word.

Shutting the door behind her, he walked around to the driver’s side and told the chauffeur, “You ride in the car behind us.”

He slid into the driver's seat and turned the key, firing the engine up again.

Catheleen was in the front seat now, but quiet was still a far-off dream. She kept mumbling under her breath.

“Cammie, where’s Cammie?”

“My Cammie’s the prettiest. She’s the best to cuddle.”

“Cammie, I’m sleeping with you tonight, you know!”

Camilla curled up in the back, wishing she could become invisible. She was dying from secondhand embarrassment and wanted nothing more than to shut Catheleen up, but with Catheleen in front, she’d have to lean dangerously close to Lambert. That was definitely not happening.

Lambert drove with the coldest look on his face, completely stone-faced.

Thankfully, Catheleen seemed to lose interest in reaching for Camilla. Suddenly, she switched to singing, waving her arms around in the passenger seat like she’d forgotten where she was.

When they finally pulled up outside Catheleen’s building, Lambert barely waited for the car to stop before he grabbed Catheleen by the arm and helped her out. He wasn’t gentle in the slightest.

“Ow, that hurts… can’t you be more careful?” Catheleen whined.

“I’ve got her,” Camilla said quickly, hurrying over.

It was obvious by now that Lambert had zero patience for Catheleen—and even less interest in pretending to be nice. Seeing that, Camilla couldn’t help but think, so that’s probably how he was with me on the yacht too. That kiss that happened... it must’ve just been a fluke.

She kept her eyes down, focusing on getting Catheleen steady.

“I’ll walk you both upstairs.”

That wasn’t really what he meant. What he saw today between Catheleen and Camilla kept replaying in his mind, and he couldn’t help feeling bothered by it. Catheleen was supposed to be the quiet, obedient type. Why was she suddenly so clingy? Was it possible... that she liked girls?

Lambert’s thoughts raced ahead before he even realized. “Yeah. Move out soon.”

Camilla just nodded, not saying anything else.

When the elevator dinged and the doors opened, Camilla turned to thank him. “Thanks for helping. You should get some rest too.”

As she reached for the doorknob, Lambert blurted out, “Do you two… sleep in the same bed?”

Camilla paused, caught completely off-guard by the question.

“There’s only one bed here,” she said honestly.

Lambert’s frown deepened, but he didn’t comment further.

Camilla definitely didn’t want to keep this conversation going. She helped Catheleen stand and looked at Lambert. “Well… I’m closing the door now.”
