Wendy claimed she didn’t ask for much, but her true desires were endless. What she wanted was Peyton himself, not his money.

Ever since she’d been confined to a wheelchair, Peyton had covered all her expenses. He’d provided her with the best life possible, even replacing maids repeatedly to suit her demands.

Wendy could be quite high-maintenance, often making unreasonable requests of the staff. That’s why it was so hard to keep good help around.

Peyton had never complained. He’d always accommodated her every wish.

He’d done far more than enough over the years. Now, all he wanted was for her to walk again. Then he could finally move on with a clear conscience.

Once she recovered, he’d give her a generous sum of money-enough to ensure she lived comfortably for the rest of her life. It would be his final way of severing their ties.

“I’ll come see you when I have time,” Peyton said coldly. His patience with her was completely exhausted. “But you must cooperate with the treatment. No more nonsense.”

“Don’t worry, Peyton. I’ll be good,” Wendy promised. “As long as you’re here with me, I’ll do whatever it takes.”

“It’s almost noon. Let’s go grab lunch together,” she suggested eagerly. “Otherwise, you’ll rush back to the office and skip eating again. I really feel bad for you sometimes.”

Wendy felt their relationship had improved significantly. She was starting to push her luck-hoping to spend more time with him, to rebuild their connection.

Maybe one day he’ll fall in love with me, choosing me over his fiancée.

“I have too much work at the company,” Peyton declined firmly. “The driver will take you home. I need to leave now.”

Once this matter was settled, he had no desire to stay any longer. Eating with her right now was too risky, given what had happened before,

His plan was to get her started on rehabilitation as soon as possible. Once that was on track, he’d focus on rescheduling the engagement.

Quinn was a generous, understanding person. She’d been patient with his situation, and he refused to let

her down.

More importantly, Quinn was the girl he loved deeply. He couldn’t wait to build a home with her. This was his top priority, even if circumstances kept getting in the way.

Meanwhile…

When Quinn arrived at the studio, Mia was already hard at work. With Quinn away these past few days, Mia had been pulling overtime, barely stopping to rest.

“Mia, I’m back,” Quinn said. “The engagement will have to be postponed for a while. So I’ll have plenty of time these next few weeks. I want to give you a long vacation.

“You’ve been handling all these projects alone while I was gone. You haven’t had a break since we left the company, have you? You’ve really worked hard.”

Quinn felt deeply grateful. Having someone so loyal and dedicated by her side was truly a blessing.

Their projects were still ongoing, and she couldn’t afford to pay Mia a higher salary right now. But she promised herself she’d reward Mia generously once the projects were completed.

“Miss Hart, I’m not tired at all,” Mia insisted. “This is work I love. Our studio is just getting off the ground. I’m happy to do more. Once we start making money, you’ll hire more people, and I’ll have it easier then.

“I know you’ve had a lot going on with your family lately. It’s only natural you couldn’t focus on work here. Doing extra doesn’t bother me. I have nothing else going on right now anyway.”

Mia truly didn’t mind the extra work. She was happy to do it voluntarily.

“That’s not the point,” Quinn said gently. “Work can’t be finished in one day. Even when we were at the company, we had vacations. Go home and rest for a few days. You deserve it.”

“I’ve been checking on the project with Leo. It’s going really well,” Quinn added, changing the subject. “You’re getting more and more skilled. Your professional abilities have improved so much. How are things going between you two?”

Quinn suddenly remembered to ask. She felt it was only right to check in on her assistant’s love life.

“We haven’t talked in a long time,” Mia replied awkwardly. “I don’t want to bother him. While you were away. I’ve been at the studio nonstop. I haven’t had a chance to see him.”
