“Leo, Mia’s a wonderful girl,” Quinn said earnestly. “You’re both single. I think you’d be perfect together.

“I know there’s a big gap between your family backgrounds, but that shouldn’t matter to you. You’ve never cared about things like that. Give her a chance. She’s truly amazing.

“You’re both dear friends of mine, which is why I’m saying this. Otherwise, I wouldn’t introduce my most trusted assistant to you.”

Quinn didn’t notice Mia had returned. She was still talking, unaware her words were being overheard. Mia slowed her steps, lingering nearby.

She already knew Leo would reject her. But she couldn’t help but stay, needing to hear the answer for herself, even if it was one she didn’t want.

“Quinn, have you had too much to drink?” Leo chuckled. “You’re talking nonsense. I already have someone in my heart. I can’t pay attention to anyone else. You know how loyal I am.”

Quinn laughed in surprise.

“Leo, I’ve known you for years. I’ve never heard of you having someone special,” she teased. “You go through girlfriends faster than turning pages. When have you ever been serious about anyone?

“But I’ll warn you-if you ever hurt Mia, I’ll never forgive you. Don’t you dare let her down.”

She’d only ever seen the side of Leo he wanted others to see. She had no idea what he truly felt.

“You wouldn’t understand,” Leo said softly. “Who I like has nothing to do with you. You can’t help me, so don’t ask.”

He thought he’d made his feelings obvious.

How could someone as smart as Quinn not see it? She’s even trying to set me up with someone else.

It’s ridiculous.

“Fine, fine, I won’t ask,” Quinn conceded. “But if you’ve liked someone for a long time with no result, maybe it’s time to let go. There are plenty of great girls out there. The one you like might not be the right one for you.”

“Quit giving me relationship advice, Quinn,” Leo shot back, grinning to lighten the mood. “If you were so wise, you wouldn’t have wasted years on that jerk ex of yours.”

He didn’t want things to get awkward between them. Teasing her was the easiest way to defuse the tension.

with Leo.

Being with him was always fun-something no one else could replicate. He was her best friend.

Mia decided it was time to return. They’d said everything there was to say.

“Mr. Harrison, Miss Hart, I’m back,” she said, forcing a weak smile. She tried to stay calm, hiding her true feelings.

“I have a business dinner to attend. You two enjoy the rest of the meal. I’ll head out now,” Leo said, standing

He had no interest in Mia. He barely glanced at her. He’d only come tonight to spend time with Quinn.

He never would have rescheduled his dinner if he’d known she’d bring someone else.

To him, Quinn would always be his top priority.

If she ever needed him, he’d drop everything to help her without hesitation.

“Alright, go on,” Quinn replied. She could tell he was avoiding the topic. There was no point in keeping him there.

Once Leo left, only Quinn and Mia remained.

“Mia, I just…” Quinn started, trying to explain.

“Miss Hart, I’m sorry. I overheard your conversation,” Mia interrupted gently. “I know how he feels now. Love can’t be forced. It’s okay that he doesn’t care about me.

“You said so many nice things about me, but he didn’t budge. That proves I don’t matter to him at all. Unlike patents, love isn’t something you can get just by working hard.”
