Chapter 119 Did They Have a Fight?
“Really?” Wendy couldn’t believe it.
He’s like a different person-suddenly so caring. I begged him countless times before, but he never agreed.

“Of course it’s true,” Peyton said, making up his mind. “As long as you’re willing to go to the center, I’ll stay with you every time. I’ll see this through to the end.”
He was determined to put aside everything else to accompany her through the entire rehabilitation process.

“Peyton, let’s leave now!” Wendy said excitedly, her face lighting up with genuine joy. “With you by my side, I feel so safe. No matter how hard it is, I’ll grit my teeth and keep going this time. You’ll see for yourself how painful this is once you’re there.”
The two left her house and headed straight for the rehabilitation center.
When they arrived, Peyton led her through the VIP entrance. He’d already spoken to the center. They could come anytime, and someone would always be there to assist them.
“Peyton, will you wait for me at the door?” Wendy asked. “You promised. Don’t leave. I want to see you right
when I come out.”
“I won’t break my promise. Go ahead, don’t worry. I’ll be right here waiting for you,” Peyton assured her.
He walked her to the entrance, then stood guard outside alone.
Shortly after Wendy was led inside for her session, a sharp scream echoed out. Peyton looked through the window. He had to admit-the rehabilitation training was like torture. It was incredibly painful and completely inhumane.
Maybe Wendy wasn’t just being dramatic sometimes. This training was terrifying, and it really might be too difficult for her.
Peyton’s phone suddenly rang. He picked it up-it was Quinn.
“How’s things with Wendy?” she asked, still concerned. She hadn’t/slept well all night, waiting to call and check on him this morning.
“It’s mostly sorted out. She’s in the middle of her session now,” Peyton replied. “But I promised her I’d be here with her every time she has rehabilitation from now on.
“She can’t keep going without me. It’s too agonizing for her.”
From now on?
Rehabilitation is a long process. Does that mean they’ll be spending this much time together from now on?
Quinn felt a twinge of discomfort. It didn’t seem fair to her, but she had no choice. If he didn’t stay with Wendy, she’d never stick to the training, and they’d be trapped in guilt forever.
“I see,” Quinn said. “If you’re still at the center, stay with her. I know it’s hard for her. I have to get to the studio now, so I’ll hang up.”

She spoke briefly, then hung up the phone firmly. Even though she felt upset, she still tried to understand him.
When she arrived at the studio, Doris called.
“Quinn, Eleanor and I are planning your engagement!” Doris said excitedly. “We’ve picked the venue. It’s a beautiful, romantic place with amazing views. We’ve also prepared lots of little surprises for you. I’m sure you’ll love it.”
“Quinn, what have you two been up to lately?” Eleanor chimed in. “Come home for dinner sometime soon. Doris and I are working on the wedding plans, and we need to discuss some ideas with you. It’s your wedding, after all.”
Eleanor and Doris were putting their hearts into the preparations, checking in with her regularly.
Quinn had never really thought about wedding details before, and she had no strong opinions. As long as Eleanor and Doris were happy, that was all that mattered to her.
“Mom, Mrs. Reed, I trust your taste completely,” Quinn said. “You’re both putting so much effort into this. I know it’ll be perfect. I won’t interfere.
“I’ve been swamped with work at the studio lately. We’re really busy, so we probably won’t be able to come home for a while.”
She didn’t tell them about what had happened today. She didn’t want to make them worry or upset them.
They chatted briefly, then Quinn hung up and got ready to work. She had a mountain of tasks to finish alone, so she had to make the most of every minute otherwise, she’d never get everything done.
“Don’t you think Quinn seems a little upset?” Eleanor asked Doris. “Did they have a fight?”
